Job Description:

The Supplemental Breast Imaging Care Specialist will fill in for vacation and sick calls primarily at Sacred Heart Imaging Center.

Summary: To assist the radiologists and breast imaging department to maintain the most efficient workflow. Responsible for maintaining order in the reading room to facilitate the timely and efficient review and report dictation by the radiologist. Assists within the department to facilitate patient flow.

General Description: The Breast Imaging Care Specialist must be able to: work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment in meeting continual deadlines; handle multiple priorities with constant interruptions; be highly organized to meet deadlines. Organizational skills are essential. Interacts with the radiologists, technologists, and other departments within Inland Imaging, patients and family members and outside contacts. Excellent written, verbal, and personal communication skills; tactful and diplomatic communication; and maintaining strict confidentiality is required. Makes decisions regarding daily work priorities and other decisions based on company policies and procedures.

Essential Duties / Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.   • Provides high quality customer service by:
    • Shows compassion and empathy to patients at all times
    • Listens to patients' and referring providers' requests for exams, times and locations
    • Asks the appropriate questions to get information needed to schedule exams
    • Relays exam specific patient preparatory information as appropriate
    • Completes phone calls with a professional entry and closing
  • Coordinates requested exams with individual radiologist's skill sets and schedules appropriately to maximize equipment utilization by time and location, review open slots
  • Maintains clean, well-stocked reading rooms, including cleaning monitors, and workstations
  • Prints schedules for radiologist and the department
  • Ensures radiologist has all paperwork needed for each exam, including previous reports, history sheets, referral slips, and pathology reports from prior biopsies
    • Ensures that all current and previous studies are digitized, pushed and in presentation state for electronic reading
    • Scans appropriate paperwork into PACS (foreign reports, path reports etc.)
    • Scans paperwork into Medicalis
    • Reviews exam and history forms for proper information prior to presentation for reading
    • Calls abnormal reports to referring clinician on request
    • Prioritizes STAT exams
  • Remains available for Radiologists requests and shares this responsibility with other mammography staff in their absence
  • Calls and schedules patients for additional imaging
  • Schedules with interpreters as needed and requests interpreter for exam
  • Requests prior imaging from Nuance Powershare
  • Calls for outside comparison studies and maintaining proper documentation. Once arrived prepares paperwork, push images and merge for reading
  • Triages multiple calls on multiple phone lines
  • Utilizes Control Center to assign studies to radiologist worklists for interpretation
  • Transports procedure patients to day surgery (SHIC), (HF)
  • Monitors daily logs to ensure proper follow up of patients
  • Monitors and responds to emails
  • Maintains a high level of customer service
  • Stocks beverages for radiologists on site
  • Rotates to other shifts and locations as needed
  • This position may be required to work in a hospital, urgent care or clinical setting
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • Attendance is required for this position.
  • Rotates to other shifts and locations as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma/GED required
  • Experience: One year minimum experience in the medical field and knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology required
    • Ability to consider individual needs in communication with and assessment and treatment of patients of all ages
    • Detail oriented, ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment
  • Certifications: N/A
  • Computer Skills: Experience with the following computer applications is highly desired: Outlook; Microsoft Office Suite; Workday; Medicalis; PACS; MagView; Powershare; Internet/Intranet, Webex
  • Background Check:
    • Must be able to pass a background check required by RCW 43.43.830-840 to work with children under the age of 16, developmentally disabled persons or vulnerable adults
    • In order to comply with provisions set forth in Sections 1128 and 1156 of the Social Security Act, all new employees of Inland Imaging Clinical Associates, LLC will be checked against the LIST OF EXCLUDED INDIVIDUALS provided by the Department of Health & Human Services, Office of the Inspector General (OIG). Employees must not be included on this list.
