Job description

General Summary

This position is responsible for installation and maintenance of injection molding production machinery such as horizontal injection molding machines, 3 axis robots, automated cells, material loaders, material dryers, water chillers, temperature control units, hot runner controllers, end of arm tooling, etc. Must be able to maintain the equipment in good working condition and to execute planned maintenance and corrective maintenance. Analyze our existing custom production machinery for areas of improvement, designing necessary custom parts for the machinery, and working with the Injection Molding Department to design the most efficient production layout in our new facility. This position is also responsible for tooling changes as well as preventive maintenance and minor repairs of injection molding tooling.

Duties and Responsibilities (essential duties are italicized)

1. Performs preventive maintenance as scheduled following the proper lock out tag out procedures.

2. Performs corrective or reactive maintenance when a line is down.

3. Assists with changeovers of the machines as scheduled to accommodate the production schedule.

4. Adjusts the machines as necessary to maintain the productivity on the machines.

5. Leads and supports continuous improvement projects.

6. Supports new employees on the proper training of using, troubleshooting and maintaining the machinery.

7. Keep the spare parts and maintenance work bench and tool carts in order, clean and safe.

8. Support the safety committee to ensure all the guidelines and regulations are being followed

9. Responsible for machine safety and proper operation.

10. Help during the startup and shutdown procedures in production

11. Fill out the proper documentation when performing adjustments, preventive or reactive maintenance.

12. Waste disposal management and proper documentation

13. Assist with facilities maintenance as needed

14. Performs in a manner consistent with company Core Values and Purpose.

15. Attends all scheduled meetings, missing no more than 10% annually.

16. Clocks in and out for work and lunch with no more than 1 error per month.

17. Provides excellent customer service.

18. Follows all OSHA and other safety guidelines.

19. Actively demonstrates teamwork at all times.

20. Manages any stress on the job, including but not limited to meeting deadlines.

21. Adheres to company safety standards at all times, such that no serious (requiring medical attention) injury occurred during the prior 12-month period.

22. Follows other policies and procedures such that there are no verbal or written warnings during the evaluation period.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

1. High school diploma or equivalent.

2.At least 2 years experience working in a plastic transformation process such as injection molding, extrusion or blow molding and preferably exposed to machinery brands such as ARBURG, Wittman and SEPRO

3. At least 2 years’ experience in a production environment repairing and maintaining injection molding machinery, injection molding tooling, robotic automation systems.

4. Excellent understanding of predictive and preventative maintenance processes.

5. Mechanical skills needed to perform maintenance and must have proven experience and ability in mechanical, electrical and electronic maintenance troubleshooting techniques.

6. Able to demonstrate working knowledge of mechanical/electrical principles/concepts.

7. Able to read/comprehend instructions given through electronic/mechanical instruction books, including electric, electronic, pneumatic and hydraulic diagrams.

8. Familiarity with implementing or maintaining equipment and facilities based on ISO9001 or 13485.

9. Fluently speak, read, and write English.

10. Skilled in time management.

11. Skilled in multi-tasking.

12. Demonstrated customer problem solving skills.

13. Ability to work with minimal supervision.

14. Ability to learn and perform primary functions of positions within department.

15. Ability to manage stress.

16. Ability to meet physical demands of the job which include, but are not limited to: walking; bending; pushing; pulling; sitting for extended periods of time at a desk using a computer, phone and headset; and occasionally lifting and carrying items which may weigh up to 50 pounds.

17. Position spends approximately 100% of time moving about the production area including walking, standing, sitting, squatting, reaching, twisting, and leaning.

18. Vision and hearing must be within or correctable to within normal range.

19. Must work from the corporate office and be able to work on time on a regular basis during regular business hours. Must be available for evening/weekend work as needed.

20. While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is exposed to production equipment at various times. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

This position starts at $23.00- $25.00 per hour depending upon experience. This position is 100% onsite at our Arlington location. This is a B shift position, hours are 2:00pm-10:30pm M-F with occasional Saturday OT.
