JOB SUMMARY:
The Mold Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventive, corrective, and routine maintenance on injection molds, ensuring molds are in proper working condition for production runs. The ideal candidate has strong mechanical aptitude, experience in mold repair, and a deep understanding of tooling used in plastics manufacturing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Inspect, clean, and perform routine maintenance on injection molds according to scheduled intervals.
• Troubleshoot and repair damaged or worn mold components, including cavities, cores, slides, lifters, and ejector systems.
• Disassemble and reassemble molds with precision to ensure proper function and alignment.
• Maintain detailed records of mold maintenance, repairs, and part replacements.
• Collaborate with process technicians, mold setters, and engineers to address tooling issues that affect part quality or production.
• Identify and communicate recurring mold problems and suggest long-term solutions.
• Use tools such as grinders, polishing equipment, hand tools, and micrometers for repair and finishing tasks.
• Maintain mold storage areas in clean, organized condition and ensure proper handling procedures.
• Assist with mold trials and qualification of new or repaired molds as needed.
• Follow all safety procedures and report equipment concerns or unsafe conditions promptly.
ABILITY TO/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
• Must understand and follow all departmental safety rules
• Understand Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
• ISO sections about the position
QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certification in mold/tooling repair or machining preferred.
• 5+ years of experience in mold maintenance or mold repair in a plastics injection molding environment.
• Strong understanding of mold construction, including cooling systems, hot runners, ejector systems, and venting.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and toolroom schematics.
• Familiarity with machining and polishing tools (e.g., mills, lathes, surface grinders).
• Good organizational and documentation skills.
• Ability to lift heavy components and work in a shop environment
• Capacity to work overtime as needed

The physical demands and working conditions requirements indicated below are examples of the demands that must be performed in carrying out the essential job functions.
Physical Demands: Standing, sitting, walking (up to continuously); speaking/verbal communication, bend/stoop, twist neck and torso (frequently); reach, hold, grasp, push, pull, lift/carry raw material, finished product, tools and machinery up to 50 pounds (frequently).
Working Conditions: Work indoors; exposure to temperatures commensurate with outdoor seasonal temperatures.
