Job description

What a typical day looks like

You arrive on site, review the day’s drawings and schematics, and plan the layout for an industrial installation in line with the NEC and local code. By mid-morning you’re bending conduit, pulling wire, and assembling system components. In the afternoon, you’re verifying switchgear and transformer installations, checking continuity, current, voltage, and resistance with a multimeter and megger, and troubleshooting a control panel that drives a motor and generator set. Safety is constant—LOTO procedures and NFPA 70E (Arc Flash) are second nature. Some days include calibrating instrumentation or checking fiber-optic and coax runs; other days you’re servicing lighting and receptacles. You’re comfortable standing for long stretches and can step up for overtime, including weekends, when needed.

Your core impact
  • Interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, and code specifications to determine layouts for industrial electrical systems.
  • Install, replace, or repair wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fiber‑optic and coaxial assemblies, lighting fixtures, and related components.
  • Install and test switchgears, transformers, switchboard meters, and regulators.
  • Repair, test, and install electrical motors and generators.
  • Troubleshoot and install electrical/electronic control systems and related devices.
  • As needed, install, maintain, and calibrate industrial instrumentation.
  • Operate assigned equipment and handle general duties to support safe, efficient work execution.
  • Assemble system components and complete other tasks as directed.
What you bring
  • 3+ years of hands-on electrical experience with strong knowledge of electrical systems, wiring methods, and safety standards.
  • Deep familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and applicable local codes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring schematics/diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency with test equipment (multimeter, voltmeter, megger) and NFPA 70E (Arc Flash) practices.
  • Strict adherence to lockout/tagout (LOTO) and other safety protocols.
  • Physical capability to lift heavy equipment and climb ladders; able to stand for extended periods.
  • Hands-on experience with panel boards and circuit breakers; conduit bending/installation; motors, transformers, and control systems.
Preferred extras
  • Prior electrical training courses.
  • Experience with high voltage, 3‑phase systems, 12V/24V DC, and soldering.
  • PLC exposure or experience.
