Job description

The Infusion Center RN provides compassionate, patient-centered care to a varying acuity of patients within the infusion center.
Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Promote the mission, vision, and values of the organization.
  2. Collaborate with support staff within the infusion center to provide safe and effective care to patients
  3. Provide care to patients such as assessment, care planning, evaluation and education regarding infusion therapy with a holistic approach
  4. Provide evaluation and education to patients support team such as caregiver, family, spouse, etc.
  5. Collaborate with clinical team members to ensure ongoing evaluation of patients response to therapy
  6. Appropriately discharge patients with complete discharge summary
  7. Provide accurate and complete documentation of patient's visit to include communication with patients physician
  8. Manage drug inventory to ensure timely infusion therapies are maintained per care plan/physician order
  9. Manages assigned patients and schedule to balance patient care and efficiency
  10. Maintains knowledge of current therapies and cutting edge drugs to ensure evidenced-based and current practice for patients
  11. Maintains knowledge of chemotherapy and immunotherapy guidelines and recommendations through Oncology Nursing Society
  12. Disposes of drugs and biohazardous waste according protocols
  13. Function as a flexible member of the team to fulfill roles as needed throughout the company during low census

Requirements
Qualifications Required:
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Associate Degree from accredited nursing program
  • Current Nursing licensure in accordance with appropriate state
  • Knowledge of cancer pathophysiology, evidenced based management of cancer and current therapies

Preferred:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • Experience with infusion center operations
  • Certification to give chemo drugs such as Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Administration Certificate

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
  • Physically demanding, high-stress environment
  • Exposure to blood, sharp instruments and other devices, body fluids and tissue, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions
  • Full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients
  • Manual and finger dexterity
  • Hand and eye coordination
  • Standing and walking for extensive periods of time
  • Lifting and carrying items weighing up to 50 lbs
  • Corrected vision and hearing to within normal range
  • Working under stressful conditions
