Senior Transportation Construction Project Manager

Our North Carolina team is growing, and we're looking for a Senior Transportation Construction Project Manager to lead high-impact transportation projects across the state. This is a great opportunity for an experienced construction leader who knows how to get projects across the finish line and wants a bigger role in client relationships, team leadership, and growing the business.

You'll work with NCDOT, municipalities, and other public and private clients on roadway, highway, bridge, and transportation infrastructure projects. You'll have the opportunity to lead from preconstruction through closeout, work directly with clients and contractors, solve complex project challenges, and mentor the next generation of construction professionals. As a growing mid-sized firm, Benesch gives you the opportunity to work closely with leadership, have a voice in how projects are delivered, and make a visible impact as our North Carolina practice continues to grow.

Location

This is a field-based role with regular travel to transportation project sites throughout North Carolina. You'll work from project field offices and be expected to spend significant time onsite, with flexibility to work remotely or from a Benesch office when project needs allow.

The Impact You Will Have
  • Lead transportation construction projects from preconstruction through completion
  • Manage budgets, schedules, contracts, change orders, risks, and project delivery
  • Build strong relationships with NCDOT, municipalities, contractors, and clients
  • Lead project teams and collaborate with engineers, inspectors, contractors, and consultants
  • Identify challenges early and develop practical solutions to keep projects moving
  • Support proposals, pursuits, and business development opportunities
  • Mentor and develop project staff
  • Represent Benesch with clients and throughout the transportation industry
What You Will Need
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
  • 10+ years of transportation construction experience
  • Experience with roadway, highway, bridge, or other transportation infrastructure projects
  • Experience working with NCDOT and/or municipal agencies
  • Strong knowledge of construction management, contracts, project controls, and transportation standards
  • Proven leadership and client relationship skills
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities
  • PE, PMP, or relevant construction certification preferred

Why Benesch

It's simple. We invest in our people, not just our projects.

  • Career growth that's real with leadership development, training, and clear paths forward
  • Strong financial future with up to 9% retirement contribution for benefit-eligible employees
  • Flexibility that works with schedules that support your life
  • Time to recharge with generous paid time off and parental leave for benefit-eligible employees
  • Support beyond work through mentorship, hands-on experience, and opportunities to make an impact from day one

Whether you're starting your career or bringing years of experience, you'll have the support and exposure to grow here.
