Program Manager, Infrastructure Operations

Zoox

Foster City, CA

Full-time

Posted 13 days ago

Job description

Zoox is marching toward the commercialization of our ride-hail service, and laying the foundation to efficiently scale our fleet operations is critical. We need a highly capable, forward-thinking, and tenacious Program Manager to drive the deployment of our operations infrastructure projects and support autonomous navigation within these sites.

In this high-impact role, you will tackle complex operational challenges to ensure our sites run efficiently at scale. You will track progress and support the enablement of operations infrastructure sites that perform vital functions such as vehicle charging, data offload, maintenance and repair, and other services that support the robotaxi fleet before and after missions. By bridging operational needs with technical capabilities, you will help shape the future of how our fleet operates on the ground.

In this role, you will:
  • Own End-to-End Execution: Consolidate all new sites, construction projects, and work tickets into one cohesive program, managing the delivery and reporting of on-site driving from concept and planning through deployment and continuous improvement.
  • Bridge Engineering and Operations: Bridge the gap between software, hardware, safety, product, and infrastructure teams. Ensure that highly technical engineering solutions meet the practical, day-to-day needs of our ground operations and a rapidly scaling fleet.
  • Build Scalable Processes: Define and execute new infrastructure enablement processes suited to scale across many sites and cities, driving high-impact programs that improve operational efficiency and reliability.
  • Optimize and Solve Problems: Identify pain points and inefficiencies within site operations. Build decision-making frameworks that account for real-world operational costs, vehicle requirements, and software features.
  • Represent Infrastructure Needs: Act as the primary voice for infrastructure teams in the cross-functional process of enabling autonomous driving at Zoox locations, collaborating with key stakeholders to define requirements and prioritize initiatives.
  • Track Performance and Mitigate Risk: Establish standard reports, KPIs, and performance metrics to provide concise communication to key stakeholders. Proactively identify risks, ensure mitigating actions are ongoing, and track important items for key decisions to eliminate bottlenecks.
  • Drive Adoption: Guide operational change efforts at the site level, ensuring the smooth adoption of new processes, tools, and workflows across cross-functional teams.
Qualifications
  • Education & Experience: Undergraduate degree in engineering, business, operations management, environmental studies, or equivalent. 5+ years of overall experience, with 3+ years in a program management, operations management, or management consulting role.
  • Deep Operational Expertise: Deep understanding of ground operations, process improvement, and scaling best practices. You possess hands-on experience managing complex projects within a fleet operations, hardware manufacturing, logistics, or infrastructure environment.
  • Technical Translation: Strong ability to translate complex, real-world operational challenges into technical engineering requirements, and vice versa.
  • Hardware/Software Integration: Proven success in driving Hardware, Software, and Operations integration, ensuring that cross-functional dependencies are managed end-to-end.
  • Exceptional Execution & Bias for Action: A proven track record of owning cross-functional initiatives from inception to completion. You are a self-starter who thrives in ambiguity and can operate independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail-Oriented but Big-Picture Aware: While you understand the broader strategy of fleet commercialization, you excel at diving into the operational weeds to solve hard problems and maintain the quality of the rider experience.
  • Stakeholder Management: Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and align requirements across engineering, operations, and leadership teams.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving abilities, including technical proficiency in organizing and analyzing data using Jira, Microsoft Excel, and Google Suite.
Bonus Qualifications
  • Experience in the autonomous vehicle, ride-hail, transportation, aerospace, airline operations, logistics, or other relevant mobility industries.
  • MBA or Master's degree in a relevant discipline (Engineering, Operations Management, Operations Research, etc.).
  • Previous management consulting or strategic consulting experience.
  • Formal project management certification (e.g., PMP, CAPM, or similar).
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification.
