Civil Staff Engineer
Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Site Design Staff Engineer to join our team. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. In this role, you will perform activities related to the site design of utility-scale solar projects. This work involves aiding in the design of civil infrastructure such as access roads and work pads. Along with the civil design, other work activities include permitting support and occasional field work. We are seeking an Engineer who shares our passion for high-quality production, client commitment, and a fast-paced work environment. This position will serve as a member of an integrated design team and be responsible for compiling civil design plan sets alongside other disciplines to meet project schedules and budgets, where clear and concise written and verbal communication is imperative. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.

 Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a design team member supporting permitting, design, and construction of renewable energy projects.
  • Use sound engineering judgment and adhere to ethical standards when evaluating, selecting, and applying standard technical procedures to complete project tasks.
  • Gain foundational knowledge and develop engineering skills through mentored experiences.
  • Coordinate with design team members to meet project milestones, contract requirements, and client expectations.
  • Collaborate with design team members to uphold company standards and consistency. 

Requirements

 Education/Experience:

  • 0+ years of experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET/EAC-accredited program.
  • Engineer-in-Training or Engineering Intern certification, or the ability to pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam within 6 months.

Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
  • Effective time and workload management skills, including planning, organizing, and prioritizing tasks with a focus on detail.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to maintain a high standard of professionalism in all workplace interactions.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills for clarity and effectiveness.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively across multiple offices.
  • Ability to adhere to firm policies, practices, and procedures by following directions and guidelines diligently.
  • Ability to show assertiveness and a collaborative spirit when addressing and resolving conflicts.

Preferred Additional Skills: 

  • Civil 3D or AutoCAD drafting experience.
