Qualifications











  • General knowledge of computers and related technologies
  • General knowledge of available software packages
  • Ability to communicate with staff and students to determine their needs, concerns and/or nature of problems that may be relative to the use of technology equipment or software.
  • Ability to assist teachers in the integration of software with curriculum
  • Ability to solve independently most minor problems
  • Work cooperatively and productively with students and staff
  • High school diploma or GED/Preferred minimum of 36 hours college credit hours recently completed in IS/IT/MIS studies.
  • Ability to reach, bend and periodically lift up to 25 pounds is required
  • Pre-employment medical examination, including tuberculosis clearance
  • Pass a Regional Office of Education Fingerprint/Background Clearance including Federal Bureau of Investigation

Physical Requirements

  • Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions.
  • Ability to reach, bend and periodically lift up to 25 pounds is required
  • The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling. Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 25% walking, and 25% standing.

Essential Duties and Performance Responsibilities
This employee is responsible for performing tasks which aid in the ongoing support of teachers and students using computers in the ELP thru grade 8 educational setting.  The employee provides hardware and software support to teachers and building support staff.  Tasks include but are not limited to software training, hardware and software installation, troubleshooting problems such as logging on to a computer system or software, printing malfunctions, or routine error messages.  If standard techniques do not resolve the situation, the employee will seek assistance from the appropriate technical professional.

  • Ensure equipment is working properly
  • Ensure teachers know how to use available software and hardware
  • Performs housekeeping functions in labs (i.e. keeping computers clean)
  • Support staff and students in effective utilization and integration of available software packages
  • Install, maintain and repair various types of technology equipment
  • Install and troubleshoot various software programs
  • Prepare computer lab equipment and software for a scheduled class when a specific request if made by a building staff member
  • Assist school staffs and students with the operation of technology related equipment
  • Attend various workshops to stay abreast of developments in instructional technologies
  • Collaborate with building administrator(s) to organize and develop an equitable computer lab schedule for all classrooms.
  • Collaborate with building administrator(s) to either develop or review computer lab procedures which staff and students must adhere to throughout the entire school year
