Job description

INFORMATION SECURITY ANALYST
We are looking for an Information Security Analyst to join our Information Security team. This role is the operational backbone of our security services, focused on delivering high-quality technical support and keeping SpaceX's security infrastructure running smoothly. You will primarily manage the security ticket queue, troubleshoot issues for employees and systems, and handle day-to-day operational tasks that support our security tools and services. You will be encouraged to automate repetitive tasks, improve processes, and gradually take on more complex security engineering work.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Manage and triage the Information Security ticket queue, providing timely and effective technical support to SpaceX employees and stakeholders.
  • Perform operational tasks required to keep security platforms and services reliable and available.
  • Develop scripts and lightweight automation to streamline common technical support and operational processes.
  • Document procedures, run books, and troubleshooting guides to improve team efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Security Engineers to investigate issues, implement improvements, and contribute to larger security projects.
  • Support and maintain security services and tools, including hardware security keys (YubiKeys), SSH infrastructure, certificate management, and access control systems.
  • Analyze software to be installed on SpaceX systems for signs of malicious behavior.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in cyber security, computer science, engineering, information technology, or other STEM discipline; OR 2+ years of professional experience in information security in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience with operating system internals for Linux, Windows, or macOS platforms.
  • Experience with scripting including, but not limited to Bash, Python, PowerShell, or other programming languages.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Ability to manage a ticket queue and deliver excellent customer service in a fast-paced technical environment.
  • Experience with Linux systems administration and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with scripting (Bash, Python, or similar) and software engineering practices.
  • Understanding of information security principles (authentication, access control, encryption, etc.), including malware/software analysis.
  • Experience automating repetitive support tasks and building internal tools.
  • Familiarity with security tools commonly used in enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on experience with YubiKeys, SSH, public key infrastructure, and basic security concepts.
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical users.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to thrive in a high-growth, dynamic fast paced environment.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • This role requires you to be onsite; remote or hybrid work will not be considered.
  • Travel may be required; occasionally visit other SpaceX locations (up to 10%).

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:
Pay range:
Security Analyst/Level I: $95,000.00 - $115,000.00/per year
Security Analyst/Level II: $110,000.00 - $130,000.00/per year
Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX. You may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of company stock or long-term cash awards, as well as potential discretionary bonuses and the ability to purchase additional stock at a discount through an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. You will also receive access to comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various other discounts and perks. You may also accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and will be eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year. Employees accrue paid sick leave pursuant to Company policy which satisfies or exceeds the accrual, carryover, and use requirements of the law.
