Job description

Energy Portfolio Operations (EPO) manages AWS' portfolio of energy contracts (carbon free, renewables, DC supply), oversees its performance, ensures compliance with wholesale market regulations, manages and optimizes energy certificates, and more.
Our team is looking for an experienced energy supply professional with a track record in managing energy supply and power purchase contracts, overseeing relationships with counterparties (IPPs, utilities) and bringing commercial issues to resolution. This role will partner with a global team (US, EMEA, APJC) and will work collaboratively with stakeholders across the AWS Infrastructure Services org to manage, report, analyze and influence our energy strategies, contracts and frameworks. The right candidate is commercially savvy, experienced in designing or deploying programs, has an analytical skill set, and experience negotiating and managing energy supply contracts and power purchase agreements.
Key job responsibilities
- Partner with our regional Energy Ops and Strategy teams, bringing forth recommendations, ensuring alignment and in driving issues towards resolution, and to support the development of strategic energy sourcing opportunities.
- Manage a portfolio of energy supply contracts and carbon free energy purchase agreements, including complex and unique structures.
- Act as a subject matter expert, looking to reduce cost, minimize risk and leverage opportunities that benefit Amazon's customers.
- Develop subject-matter market expertise and in-depth understanding of the structure and performance of Amazon's global energy portfolio.
- Plan and drive execution of initiatives to improve our energy portfolio operations and management. Continuously seek to invent and simplify in order to achieve further scale effect.
- Identify and develop innovative initiatives and programs to meet the org's goals and success metrics.
- Report and analyze performance, identifying impacts to our business units and our customers and formulate plans to address.
- Work collaboratively with EPO and other teams to deliver for AWS' customers.

You will prioritize your activities to support data center capacity delivery, availability and safety focusing on the actions that are most impactful. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or above
- Experience managing multiple projects, prioritizing, planning, and managing time
- • 10+ years of experience working in utility/energy industry - asset/contract management, market operations or similar
- • Experience analyzing energy projects and negotiating contracts with utilities/IPPs
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in creating process improvements with automation and analysis, or experience communicating results to senior leadership
- Experience communicating clearly and concisely with leadership, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
- • Master's Degree (MBA/MS) preferred
- • Excellent speaking-listening-writing skills and attention to details

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
