Job Title: Live Sim (SAAB) Operator
Location: Belgium
Position Start: November 1, 2026, Pending Contract Award

Job Content Key Responsibilities:
  • PART OF DUEL SIM EXCON

Preparation Phase:
  • Planning & reconnaissance of positions Main EXCON (5 PCs)
  • Scenario development (Order of Battle, terrain, etc.) according to client's expectations
  • Assigning kits (Sensors for Personnel & Vehicles, lasers for armament, etc.)
  • Develop MEL-MIL (Main Event List - Main Incident List) according to client's expectations

Execution Phase:
  • Maintain EXCON overview on the Exercise
  • Manage the Exercise and MEL-MIL execution according to client's expectations
  • Activate / De-activate EXCON functionalities (Artillery, Air Strikes, Mine Fields, IEDs, revive, enhance/degrade protection, add/reduce Ammo)
  • Observe & register key points
  • Support Main EXCON & evaluation team (if applicable)

After Action Review Phase:
  • Immediate data exploitation
  • Supporting debriefings

General:
  • Conduct annual updates of the SAAB GAMER software
  • Integrate new equipment with the SAAB GAMER system
  • Follow Up & Implement Lessons Learned
  • Train Unit Officers/NCOs in using SAAB GAMER EXCON system

Must have requirements:
  • Be able to handle software on tablet or PC, but no need to be an IT specialist
  • Available & Able to live on the exercise terrain for 2 to 12 days, also abroad
  • Experience at Company Level (Commander or Company Sergeant Major) Infantry, Tank, Combat Recce, Combat Engineer or Artillery
  • User experience with Live Simulation (SAAB, MILES)
  • Speak English, French or Dutch

Preferred requirements:
  • Speak English, French and Dutch

Main EXCON
  • 1 Maneuver SME (Infantry, Tank: Bn CO or S3)
  • 1 Fire Support SME (Artillery: Battery CO, JTAC, FO, LnO)
  • 1 Combat Engineer SME (MILENG: Bn or Coy CO, LnO)
  • 1 OPFOR SME (Intel, Recon, S2 Bde or Bn)
  • 1 AAR SME (Former CO or S3 Bn, Lessons Learned experience)

Mobile EXCON
  • Any of the above qualifications
  • Experience at Company/Battalion Level (CO > Staff Officer > Staff NCO)
  • Former Instructor
  • Mature personality
  • Operator experience with Live Simulation (SAAB, MILES)
  • Maneuver SME

Military rank equivalent:
  • Main: Colonel to NCO
  • Mobile: 1 Colonel / LtCol (Max) to NCO (BM)
