Job Summary

At Indian Motorcycle, we recognize that our success begins with our employees. We are seeking qualified candidates for a Quality Engineer to join the Indian Motorcycle Factory team at our Spirit Lake, IA location. In this role you will serve as the lead Quality Engineer for the Indian Motorcycle liquid paint, powder paint, and kits production departments supporting the daily and long-term quality initiatives. The Quality Engineer also provides direct supervision to a team of three Quality Technicians.

Responsibilities
  • Front line liaison to powder paint and liquid paint supervisors and staff in executing troubleshooting, root cause analysis and implementing corrective action on issues affecting production.
  • Lead investigation and resolution of paint-process defects including color variation, contamination, adhesion failures, appearance defects, substrate issues, and coating performance concerns.
  • Drive improvements in First Pass Yield, scrap reduction, defect reduction, and paint process capability metrics.
  • Integral team member working cross-functionally with Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Production to ensure the successful launch of new motorcycle platforms.
  • Actively involved in design reviews as well as identifying significant and critical feature characteristics on blueprints.
  • Partner with suppliers to resolve quality concerns and support corrective action implementation.
  • Leads selection, qualification, and implementation of paint inspection and measurement equipment.
  • Establish and maintain quality audit and inspection plans.
  • Analyzes production limitations and standards, recommends revisions of specifications when indicated.
  • Assists in the formulation of quality control policies and procedures.
  • Schedules work to meet completion dates and technical specifications.
  • Works in safe and healthy manner, strictly following all safety rules and regulations.
  • Maintains a neat, clean, and orderly work area.
  • Responsible for the development and performance management of employees. Develops and maintains objectives, development plans, and performance reviews.
  • Apply policies, procedures, and disciplinary action in a consistent manner, as needed.
  • Fosters an inclusive, best team culture to ensure Spirit Lake is the Employer of Choice. Ensures positive employee relations and high employee engagement.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Experience & Skills
  • 3 years of previous Quality Engineering experience preferred.
  • Previous experience with production painting processes preferred.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving and communication skills required.
Education
  • Bachelor of Science, Engineering Degree or equivalent.
