Job description

Job Title: Solidworks Drafter
Location: Bellevue, WA
Type: Contract
Compensation: $50.00 - $80.00 per hour
Contractor Work Model: Onsite Bellevue, remote available for exceptionally qualified non-local candidates.
Overview:
Solidworks Drafter (contract) supporting advanced reactor design work..You'll create and maintain SolidWorks 3D CAD models and engineering/fabrication drawings, produce drawings to ASME Y14.1/Y14.5, perform tolerance stack-ups, and maintain configuration control using PDM/PLM tools while documenting design changes and supporting technical deliverables. Ideal candidates have 4+ years of SolidWorks experience, strong GD&T, experience checking fabrication drawings, and a DFM/DFA mindset.
Responsibilities:
  • Create structural and mechanical design solutions, 3D CAD models, and engineering drawings for reactor structures and components related to Generation IV Reactor.
  • Develop and maintain highly complex mechanical designs using Solidworks CAD system.
  • Produce robust CAD models to facilitate fast-paced design evolution and derivative creation, leveraging advanced modeling techniques.
  • Conduct trade studies to identify the best design options and document progress, changes, and decisions through collaboration platforms.
  • Create technical presentations, documents, and reports as needed to communicate design progress.
  • Create engineering drawings including layout, detail, interface control, and general arrangements adhering to ASME Y14.1 and Y14.5 standards.
  • Perform and document tolerance stack-up calculations, review drawings for accuracy and conformance, and maintain configuration control via PDM software.
  • Proactively review documents, propose process improvements, and contribute to standards development within the design team.

Requirements
  • 4+ years of relevant experience with proficiency in SolidWorks CAD system.
  • Experience using product data management (PDM) software.
  • Proven ability to produce engineering and fabrication drawings in SolidWorks.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work on multiple tasks independently.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with excellent communication skills.
  • Trustworthiness, integrity, and ability to foster teamwork.
  • Experience with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
  • Experience reviewing fabrication drawings and designing for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA).
  • Background in Mechanical and Machine Design.
