Subcontract Opportunity: Home Study Writer (Remote/Field-Based)

Smoky Mountain Children's Home is seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Home Study Writer for a subcontracted service (Independent Subcontractor, 1099). The primary role is to complete comprehensive home studies for prospective foster parents. This position offers a flexible work schedule established based on the needs of the families in coordination with your availability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assessment & Visits: Arrange and coordinate two to three home visits with prospective foster parents as a core part of the assessment process.
  • Documentation:Obtain, organize, and ensure the absolute completeness of all required documentation for each home study.
  • Timely Submission:Ensure all completed home studies are submitted within 60-days from the date the study is assigned.
  • Collaboration: Maintain prompt communication with the Foster Home Compliance Coordinator to resolve any issues or concerns that arise during the process.


Qualifications

  • Education: Must possess a minimum of a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Certification: Must be certified to write home studies in the state of Tennessee.
  • Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills, with proven ability to work independently.
  • Work Environment: This role involves approximately 85% indoor work, with physical requirements including sitting (75%), standing (10%), and walking (15%).


Pay Structure

  • $500 per completed home study + mileage reimbursement at $.72 per mile.
