Job Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $120,000–$150,000

About the Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced MEP Engineer to join a collaborative engineering team delivering complex, high-performance building projects across commercial, institutional, and healthcare environments.

This role will serve as a technical leader for electrical design, multidisciplinary coordination, and project delivery. The ideal candidate brings strong building systems experience, sound technical judgment, and the ability to lead projects, solve complex challenges, and mentor junior engineers.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Design & Engineering

  • Design electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, lighting controls, fire alarm, low-voltage, A/V, and specialty systems.
  • Develop construction documents, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Evaluate system options and recommend solutions based on performance, safety, efficiency, and code requirements.
  • Select equipment and develop designs that meet project goals and industry standards.

Project Leadership & Coordination

  • Serve as the electrical design lead, providing direction to designers, drafters, and junior engineers.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, clients, and internal teams.
  • Establish design approaches and maintain alignment with project requirements and client expectations.
  • Resolve technical challenges throughout design and construction.

Field & Construction Support

  • Conduct site visits and field inspections to verify conditions and project requirements.
  • Review construction progress and provide technical guidance.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues and support effective solutions.
  • Assist with project closeout and ensure design standards are met.

Project Management

  • Support budgets, schedules, project communications, quality control, and technical documentation.
  • Monitor deliverables to ensure deadlines, quality standards, and client expectations are met.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent engineering experience.
  • 7+ years of electrical engineering design experience, preferably in commercial, institutional, healthcare, or other complex building environments.
  • PE license preferred.
  • Strong experience with building electrical systems, power distribution, lighting, equipment selection, and system analysis.
  • Knowledge of electrical construction practices, NFPA standards, and the NEC.
  • Ability to read and interpret 2D and 3D engineering drawings.
  • Strong communication, technical writing, and problem-solving skills.

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and OneNote.
  • Experience with Bluebeam and electrical analysis software such as SKM, Aspen, or EasyPower.
  • Familiarity with engineering documentation and construction drawing standards.
