Job description

Electrical Power Design Engineer

Location: Fremont, CA | 100% Onsite
Compensation: $85,000$150,000 base + annual bonus
Employment Type: Full-time, Direct Hire

We're a well-established Northern California design-build electrical contractor expanding our in-house engineering team and looking for an Electrical Power Design Engineer who wants to take greater ownership of complex building electrical designs.

This is a true design-focused engineering role. You'll develop electrical systems from concept through construction for projects including data centers and mission-critical facilities, advanced manufacturing, healthcare, life sciences, and large commercial environments.

Because engineering and construction work closely together, you won't simply produce drawings and hand them off. You'll collaborate directly with project managers, estimators, field leadership, clients, and other disciplines to solve design and constructability challenges throughout the life of the project.

What You'll Design
  • Commercial and industrial building power distribution systems
  • Low- and medium-voltage electrical systems
  • Single-line diagrams and panel schedules
  • Electrical equipment and distribution layouts
  • Emergency and standby power systems
  • UPS and mission-critical power systems
  • Grounding systems
  • Lighting and lighting controls
  • Load, voltage-drop, short-circuit, and coordination calculations
  • Complete electrical construction documents using Revit and AutoCAD

You'll also coordinate with architectural and MEP disciplines, respond to RFIs, review submittals, and provide engineering support during construction.

What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 3+ years of U.S.-based electrical design experience
  • Hands-on experience personally creating electrical designs and construction documents
  • Commercial, mission-critical, or industrial building electrical design experience
  • Strong knowledge of power distribution, single-line diagrams, panel schedules, equipment sizing, and load calculations
  • Experience designing to the NEC and U.S. building codes
  • Working experience with Revit
  • AutoCAD experience
  • Ability to coordinate with architects, MEP disciplines, contractors, and field teams

FE/EIT or PE licensure, SKM/ETAP, Title 24, and experience designing data centers or other mission-critical facilities are highly valued.

Who We Want to Meet

Your current title may be Electrical Design Engineer, Electrical Engineer, MEP Electrical Engineer, Power Design Engineer, Mission Critical Electrical Engineer, or Senior Electrical Designer.

More importantly, you're someone who has actually designed building electrical systemsnot simply reviewed, operated, commissioned, tested, or maintained them.

This position is not primarily focused on controls, PLC/automation, electronics, testing, commissioning, or facilities operations.

Why Join

You'll have the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects while seeing your designs move from the drawing board into the field. Our design-build environment gives engineers direct exposure to construction, field teams, clients, and real-world project execution while providing opportunities for continued technical growth and greater project ownership.

We offer a base salary of $85,000$150,000 depending on experience, annual bonus opportunity, comprehensive benefits beginning Day 1, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and long-term career growth.

If you enjoy designing complex building power systems and want to stay involved from concept through construction, we'd like to hear from you.
