Willis Klein Commercial is hiring an experienced Hollow Metal Welder/Fabricator to join our Division 08 production team.

This position is responsible for fabricating, welding, assembling, modifying, and finishing hollow metal doors, frames, sidelights, transoms, borrowed-light frames, and related components. The right candidate will take pride in producing accurate, square, properly prepared products that are ready for finishing, delivery, and installation.

What You Will Do

  • Fabricate and weld standard and custom hollow metal doors and frames
  • Read and follow shop drawings, opening schedules, hardware schedules, and fabrication details
  • Measure, lay out, cut, fit, clamp, tack weld, grind, and finish steel components
  • Install hardware reinforcements, anchors, tabs, clips, stiffeners, and brackets
  • Verify dimensions, handing, profiles, hardware locations, and opening numbers
  • Inspect completed work for accuracy, weld quality, alignment, and finish
  • Properly identify, protect, and stage completed products
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe fabrication area
  • Report drawing conflicts, material shortages, equipment problems, and quality concerns before work continues

What We Are Looking For

  • Prior welding, metal fabrication, sheet-metal, or manufacturing experience
  • MIG welding experience
  • Ability to read shop drawings and use tape measures, squares, levels, and other measuring tools accurately
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Ability to work independently and meet production deadlines
  • Dependable attendance and professional conduct
  • Willingness to work overtime when production needs require it

Experience fabricating hollow metal doors, frames, borrowed-light frames, sidelights, or other Division 08 products is strongly preferred.

Physical Requirements

This is an active fabrication position. Employees must be able to stand for extended periods, bend, reach, push, pull, and regularly lift up to 50 pounds. The position involves welding arcs, sparks, fumes, grinding debris, sharp metal, heat, and elevated noise levels. Required personal protective equipment must be worn.
