What does a 1099 independent contractor position mean?

A 1099 independent contractor position means the worker is self-employed and responsible for their own taxes, typically receiving a 1099 form at the end of the year to report income. Contractors usually have more flexibility in scheduling and are not entitled to employee benefits. This status often requires managing own taxes and possibly using tools like invoices or contracts.

How to start working in the comic industry?

To start working in the comic industry as an independent contractor, develop a strong portfolio of your artwork or writing, network with industry professionals at conventions and online platforms, and seek freelance opportunities through job boards or direct outreach.
