An independent contractor with a CCNA certification can qualify for roles involving network installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting, especially in environments that value Cisco networking skills. However, many employers prefer additional experience, security clearances, or related certifications for contracting opportunities. Having a CCNA demonstrates foundational networking knowledge but may need to be complemented with practical experience for certain jobs.

Is a CCNA still worth getting?

For an independent contractor with a CCNA, obtaining the certification remains valuable as it demonstrates foundational networking skills and can enhance job prospects in IT and network support roles. The CCNA is widely recognized and often required for roles involving network configuration, troubleshooting, and security, making it a relevant credential in the industry.
