What is an independent contractor Angular developer remote?

Independent Contractor Angular Developers are self-employed professionals who specialize in building web applications using the Angular framework. Working remotely, they are typically hired on a project or contract basis rather than as full-time employees. Their responsibilities include developing, testing, and maintaining front-end components, collaborating with clients or teams online, and ensuring the functionality and performance of Angular-based applications. As independent contractors, they manage their own schedules, taxes, and business operations while delivering quality code and solutions.

How does working as a remote independent contractor Angular developer impact collaboration with other team members?

As a remote independent contractor Angular developer, you’ll typically collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend developers through virtual meetings, chat platforms, and project management tools. Clear communication and proactive updates are crucial to stay aligned with the team’s objectives and project timelines. You may face challenges in syncing across time zones or understanding requirements without in-person interactions, but regular stand-ups and well-documented workflows help bridge these gaps. Building strong relationships remotely requires initiative and responsiveness, which can set you apart and foster long-term client partnerships.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an independent contractor Angular developer remote, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Independent Contractor Angular Developer (Remote), you need expertise in Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, and front-end development principles, generally supported by a relevant degree or substantial industry experience. Familiarity with version control systems (like Git), RESTful APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and project management tools such as Jira or Trello is typically required. Strong self-motivation, time management, and effective remote communication skills set outstanding candidates apart. These skills are crucial for delivering high-quality software solutions independently while ensuring efficient collaboration with distributed teams.

Job description

Be part of the future of Information Risk Management by joining the HITRUST Development Team!
HITRUST is seeking a Senior Angular Developer to join an Agile product-development team building and maintaining secure, production-grade web applications. This role is intended for an experienced Angular engineer who practices Test-Driven Development and uses AI coding assistants as an active pairing partner throughout the development lifecycle.
The successful candidate will combine strong Angular and TypeScript engineering skills with disciplined test-first development. They will use AI to accelerate requirements analysis, test creation, implementation, refactoring, debugging, and documentation while remaining accountable for the quality, security, maintainability, and correctness of every solution.
This position will be Hybrid (if located in DFW), or Remote (if located outside of DFW) with required quarterly travel.
Responsibilities:
  • Use AI coding assistants as an active pairing partner during analysis, implementation, debugging, testing, and refactoring.
  • Create and maintain automated unit, integration, and end-to-end test suites.
  • Review, validate, and improve AI-generated code before production use.
  • Break requirements into small, testable increments and collaborate on acceptance criteria before development begins.
  • Contribute to team standards for AI-assisted development and engineering excellence.

Required Skills and Experience:
  • Five or more years of professional frontend software-development experience, including substantial production experience with Angular and TypeScript.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, implement, test, and maintain complex Angular applications.
  • Demonstrated experience practicing TDD in a professional software-development environment.
  • Experience writing maintainable unit, component, integration, and end-to-end tests using tools appropriate to an Angular application.
  • Demonstrated experience using AI coding assistants throughout the development lifecycle rather than solely for isolated code generation.
  • Ability to explain how AI-generated code is reviewed, tested, secured, and validated before it is merged.
  • Strong understanding of frontend architecture, component design, asynchronous programming, API integration, state management, accessibility, performance, and browser behavior.
  • Experience with Git-based development workflows, pull requests, code reviews, and continuous integration.
  • Experience working iteratively within an Agile development team.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Experience establishing TDD or AI-assisted development practices for a software team.
  • Experience coaching developers on test design, Angular architecture, and effective AI pairing.
  • Experience with Azure and cloud-hosted web applications.
  • Experience with secure software-development practices in regulated or security-sensitive environments.
  • Experience evaluating and improving frontend engineering tools, standards, and delivery workflows.
  • Experience designing reusable component libraries or design systems.
