Job description

Metrix Instruments is seeking a temporary Receiving Inspector at our NW Houston facility for an approximately four-six month assignment. The successful candidate will receive incoming materials and parts, conduct initial quality inspections and perform administrative tasks within our ERP system.

ESSENTIAL TASKS & DUTIES:

  • Place incoming material into Arrived Status in ERP (IFS).
  • Verify that part quantity matches PO quantity.
  • Inspect parts to Engineering documents or specifications including First Article Inspections.
  • Receive purchase orders into the ERP system once parts are verified to be acceptable.
  • Operate Forklift

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • 1 years’ experience in Receiving and Inspection of manufactured and purchased parts.
  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Minimum 1 year experience in the use of general measurement equipment found in a light engineering environment (includes height gauges and calipers etc.).

KNOWLEDGE AD SKILLS:

  • Demonstrated strong and effective communication skills; written, oral, and inter-personal.
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently.
  • MS Office experience required and working knowledge of MRP system is a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS: The individual will be working in a factory environment with moderate PC work, light to moderate communication via phones and multiple interruptions.  Noise level encountered will vary from minimum to moderate.  There may be some exposure to chemicals and fumes. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires frequent walking and sitting with occasional standing, stooping, crouching and reaching/working overhead including stairs to climb.  Occasionally, there is pushing and lifting/carrying of boxes weighing 35 lbs.  Average vision and hearing is sufficient.
