Position Summary

The Provider Inboxologist serves as a centralized clinical resource responsible for managing provider inbox workflows, medication refills, patient communications, laboratory and imaging results, and follow-up care. This role partners with providers, nurses, and support staff to improve efficiency, maintain continuity of care, and enhance the patient experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage provider inbox messages and prioritize clinical tasks
  • Review and process medication refill requests according to established protocols
  • Respond to patient portal messages and telephone encounters
  • Review laboratory and imaging results and coordinate appropriate follow-up
  • Communicate test results and treatment recommendations to patients
  • Conduct telehealth visits for appropriate patient concerns
  • Review hospital records, consultation notes, and external clinical documentation
  • Support providers during vacations, leave, and other absences
  • Collaborate with nurses, providers, and practice staff to resolve urgent patient needs
  • Order preventive screenings and support population health initiatives
  • Document clinical decisions and patient interactions within the electronic health record
  • Participate in workflow improvement efforts to enhance provider efficiency and patient access
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:

Required

  • Current New York State license as an MD, DO, Nurse Practitioner, or Physician Assistant
  • Minimum three years of primary care or ambulatory care experience
  • DEA registration and prescribing authority
  • Experience interpreting laboratory and diagnostic results
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records

Preferred

  • Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or community health setting
  • Telemedicine experience
  • Experience with population health and quality improvement initiatives
  • Familiarity with eClinicalWorks
