Role Responsibilities
The Shipping/Receiving function plays a foundational role in ensuring the operational success of the supply chain and overall business performance. This position has a direct impact on inventory accuracy, customer satisfaction, production flow, and overall logistics efficiency.
Inbound Logistics (Receiving):
  • Ensures that all incoming materials, parts, or products are accurately received, verified, and recorded in inventory systems.
  • Detects and reports discrepancies, shortages, or damaged goods, enabling timely resolution and minimizing disruption to production or order fulfillment.
  • Confirms that the goods received meet quality standards and match purchase orders and supplier documentation.

Outbound Logistics (Shipping):
  • Prepares and stages outgoing shipments with a strong emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and packaging integrity.
  • Generates and verifies shipping documentation (e.g., bills of lading, shipping labels, and customs paperwork), ensuring compliance with carrier and regulatory standards.
  • Minimize delivery errors and delays, enhance customer satisfaction, and support service-level commitments.

Material Handling & Internal Movement:
  • Safely and efficiently transports materials, inventory, and finished goods throughout the warehouse or production areas, supporting just-in-time delivery to manufacturing or fulfillment teams.
  • Maintains organized and clearly labeled inventory zones, improving pick efficiency and reducing misplacement or stock-outs.
  • Ensures that high-value or sensitive materials are handled properly to prevent damage or loss.

Inventory Accuracy and System Integrity:
  • Contributes to accurate stock counts and supports cycle counting, reconciliation, and root cause analysis of inventory variances.
  • Maintains data integrity in ERP/WMS systems by timely and correct transaction entries related to goods movement.
  • Provides reliable, real-time information to purchasing, production, and finance teams, enabling better planning and resource allocation.

Compliance, Safety, and Operational Excellence:
  • Upholds all safety procedures and OSHA compliance standards, reducing incidents and supporting a safe work environment.
