Job description

Job Summary 

The Sr Inbound Logistics Analyst will maintain an efficient operation by overseeing routes and schedules to ensure that service levels and cost goals are met. The position requires addressing customer service inquiries, problem-solving and ensuring an elevated level of service. Applicants should be confident collaborating with their team along with internal and external stakeholders (transportation carriers) to optimize transportation processes and meet organizational goals. The ideal candidate also possesses a passion for digging into the details and optimizing processes. 

 Key Roles and Responsibilities 
  • Lead and guide all projects and processes for the Logistics Operations team in partnership with the Inbound Logistics Leadership with a focus on inbound from vendor, port drayage, intermodal operations, interfacility, and all inbound domestic movements. 

  • Facilitate implementations with both internal cross functional teams and external parties (i.e. RFPs, process changes, new technology). 

  • Facilitate and engage in relationships with our carriers across multiple distribution centers and at various levels (such as account representatives, dispatchers, dedicated support teams, drivers and dock workers) to meet freight requirements effectively. 

  • Manage trailer equipment and schedules to ensure seamless execution of dock door rotations at our distribution centers. 

  • Quote, route, and track domestic inbound shipments for multiple distribution centers for spot quote shipments. 

  • Monitor the daily inbound movement of domestic freight including LTL (nationwide including Alaska and Hawaii), FTL, Intermodal and Parcel & Air. 

  • Evaluate and decide the best shipment mode to meet service level (i.e., calculating volume, freight class, density, weight and audit of freight costs) as needed. 

  • Adapt to peak season and fluctuations in inbound volume demands by adjusting equipment and carrier capacity. 

  • Create and maintain business process and expectation SOPs/documentation. 

  • Provide ad hoc reports and create KPI/metrics for domestic team members, managers and executive team members as required. 

Qualifications and Competencies 
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain or related field  

  • 5 years of experience in Logistics & Transportation Operations 

  • Knowledge of and experience in executing project management frameworks 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel - turning data into usable information 

  • Exceptional organizational skills and follow-through 

  • Possesses an analytical skillset and a strong attention to detail 

  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills 

  • Knowledge of ERP and TMS systems 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word and Outlook 

  • Knowledgeable in all modes of transportation including: 

  • Truckload 

  • Less than Truckload 

  • Railroad 

  • International (cross border) 

  • Port Drayage 

  • DOT 

  • Knowledge of cargo claims rules and practices preferred 

  • Exposure to carrier price structure, contracts, and performance metrics 

  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast paced, changing environment, with a self starter mindset
