Job description

JOB TITLE:
TRANSPORTATION PRICING ANALYST
JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking an experienced Transportation Pricing Analyst to support the development, evaluation, and management of less-than-truckload (LTL) transportation pricing programs. The ideal candidate has prior experience working for a large LTL carrier or transportation provider and possesses strong analytical skills in pricing, yield management, and network economics.
This role will be primarily focused on LTL pricing and rate analysis, while also supporting transportation sourcing events, carrier RFPs, pricing database development, and long-term expansion into broader multimodal transportation pricing strategies.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Analyze and develop LTL pricing, rate structures, and carrier pricing strategies.
  • Evaluate transportation costs, profitability, density, lane characteristics, accessorial impacts, and service requirements.
  • Maintain and enhance transportation pricing databases and analytical tools.
  • Build models to support market benchmarking, cost analysis, and pricing recommendations.
  • Partner with transportation procurement and operations teams to support carrier negotiations and sourcing initiatives.
  • Assist with LTL carrier RFPs, bid evaluations, and award recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve pricing processes, reporting, and data management capabilities.
  • Support strategic initiatives related to FTL, parcel, intermodal, and other transportation modes as the role evolves.
  • Deliver insights and recommendations to leadership through reporting, dashboards, and ad hoc analysis.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree

EXPERIENCE:
  • 3+ years of transportation pricing, yield management, revenue management, or pricing analysis experience.
  • Experience working for an LTL carrier, transportation provider, 3PL, or logistics organization strongly preferred.

REQUIREMENTS/CERTIFICATIONS:
  • Strong understanding of LTL tariffs, discounts, FAK structures, minimum charges, accessorials, and transportation economics.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and transportation analytics.
  • Experience working with transportation management systems (TMS), pricing databases, and business intelligence tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively present, influence, and consult with multiple stakeholders at a variety of levels
  • Proven success in developing and communicating business recommendations and insights in an easy-to-understand way, leveraging data to tell a story
  • Strong organization and task management skills
  • Ability to interpret large data sets and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations
  • Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret large data sets and develop actionable recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience analyzing transportation spend and carrier performance.
  • Familiarity with TMS, BI tools, SQL, Power BI, Alteryx, Tableau, or transportation pricing systems.
  • APICS CSCP, CLTD, CPIM, CPSM, Lean Six Sigma, or equivalent certifications preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  • Ability to communicate clearly and understandably in person, over the telephone, and in group settings
  • Ability to continuously operate a personal computer for extended periods of time (4 or more hours)
  • Mental acuity sufficient to collect and interpret data, evaluate, reason, define problems, draw valid conclusions, and make sound decisions
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • This position is expected to work primarily from the office to facilitate collaboration, training, and engagement with key stakeholders across the transportation organization.
