Job description

Salary: $60,000

Our manufacturing company is seeking a Chemical Engineer. The Chemical Engineer will be responsible for all steps of the development and evaluation of all products for Sun Polymers. This individual will work closely with the R&D Chemist and our parent company in Taiwan. We are looking for a highly organized, methodical, and detail-oriented professional. A strong background in polymer chemistry, process engineering, material science, or synthetic organic chemistry is preferred. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Troubleshoot problems with manufacturing processes

Conduct research to develop new and improved manufacturing processes

Test and monitor performance of processes throughout production

Process optimization and trouble shooting

Establish product specifications and procedures as required

Estimate production costs for management

Develop safety procedures for those working with potentially dangerous chemicals

Clear and accurate reporting and documentation

Recording and analyzing data

Adhering to safety standards during all processes

Collaborate with CFT to solve technical challenges and optimize processes

Assist Quality Control with new and existing products

Provide technical support to sales staff

Stay up to date on industry trends and advancements

Other applicable duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelors degree in chemistry or chemical engineering

Ability to speak, read, and write in English

In-depth understanding of industry standards preferred

Up-to-date knowledge of federal and industry standards and best practices

Familiarity with chemicals used in the plant and proper handling per SDS

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Keen attention to detail

Computer proficiency

Documentation and reporting skills

Teamwork and collaboration

Comfortable standing or walking for long periods of time


WORK ENVIRONMENT

This job is performed in a manufacturing facility. The candidate will be exposed to normal office conditions and equipment that include computers, phones, printers, filing cabinets, and other office accoutrements. The candidate will also be exposed to a manufacturing environment that includes lab equipment, chemicals, large machinery, and other manufacturing accoutrements. Depending on location within the site, the candidate will be exposed to loud noise. The use of PPE such as safety goggles, gloves, respirators, etc. is required on a regular basis.
