What does a sales professional do?

Professionals in sales are responsible for promoting and selling products or services to customers. They identify potential clients, build relationships, and understand customer needs to recommend suitable offerings. Salespeople often negotiate prices, prepare sales contracts, and follow up to ensure customer satisfaction. Their goal is to meet or exceed sales targets while maintaining positive customer relations.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in sales?

To thrive in Sales, you need strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, often supported by a background in business or marketing. Familiarity with CRM software, data analytics tools, and sales platforms such as Salesforce or HubSpot is typically required. Outstanding sales professionals also excel in resilience, active listening, and adaptability to changing client needs. These abilities are essential for building trust, closing deals, and consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets.

How does a sales professional typically collaborate with other departments to achieve targets?

Sales professionals often work closely with teams such as marketing, customer support, and product development to meet sales goals. Collaboration with marketing ensures that campaigns and messaging align with customer needs and market trends, while working with product teams allows sales to provide valuable customer feedback for improvements. Additionally, coordinating with customer support helps sales reps address client concerns and build long-term relationships. This cross-functional teamwork is crucial for delivering a seamless customer experience and achieving overall business objectives.

Many sales jobs come with unrealistic expectations and unnecessary risk—but not all of them. There are great careers in sales, and Haven Roofing is hiring for one now.

Whether you’ve been in sales for years or you're just starting out, we give you the tools, training, and support to succeed and build a long-term career.

What You’ll Do:

  • Inspect roofing systems (in person, via photos, and drone inspections)
  • Generate new customer through personal efforts and company appointments
  • Consult property owners on roofing solutions
  • Collect evidence and present findings to homeowners related to insurance claims
  • Walk homeowner through the process of buying a new roof

What You Need:

  • Willingness to learn
  • Core-sense of accountability
  • Comfortable with roof inspections
  • Driver’s license & reliable transportation
  • Based near Memphis, TN

Schedule:

  • Choose your own hours
  • Some required team meetings and appointments
  • Monday to Friday (flexible start/end times)
  • Hybrid remote (field work + occasional in-person meetings)

No experience? Honestly, that’s no problem.

At Haven Roofing, we truly care about your success. Our owner and leadership team have trained hundreds of salespeople across the country — not just to sell, but to thrive in a long-term career.

We’re not just great at sales — we’re great at building people up. You’ll receive regular one-on-one training, mentorship, and all the support you need to learn the roofing industry and become a confident, high-earning professional.

When you win, we win — and we’re here to make sure you do.

Experienced in sales?

This is a career where your sales skills can shine. You’ll be surrounded by a team of high performers who’ve already found success in sales — and they’re here to help you keep pushing to your best performance, no matter where you are in your sales journey.

A quote from the owner of Haven Roofing: “Our entire system is designed for Roof Consultants (salesmen) to make over $100,000 per year. I’d rather over-invest in a small team of talented people—who I enjoy working with—and pay them well enough to stay forever, than constantly hire dozens of new reps each month like our competitors.”
