Laboratory Technician
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
A Laboratory Technician is committed to producing quality, safe and accurate results that meet our customer's specifications. Under the supervision of the Regional Laboratory Manager, the Lab Technician will perform routine oilfield testing and recordkeeping in LIMS.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Log, organize and analyze incoming samples from the field and produce accurate test results.
  • Interact with account managers, service technicians and management staff on incoming samples and make sure all samples are collected appropriately and pertinent information to the sample is received.
  • Enter data into the LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System), validate data and report to the client.
  • Follow Standard Operating Procedures implemented in laboratory.
  • Ensure all PPE is used and always worn in the laboratory.
  • Maintain retain samples and assist with monthly segregation of all samples.
  • Ensure all consumables and reagents are properly stocked and ordered for the laboratory and field.
  • Always maintain a clean and organized laboratory.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Two to three years of proven experience as a laboratory technician or relevant role.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Must posses and exercise good basic working knowledge of laboratory procedures, sample handling and testing procedures.
  • Knowledge of ICP-OES, GCMS, GC, XRD, XRF and FTIR preferred but not required.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong quantitative skills, proven attention to detail with effective organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to adapt and validate testing methods.
  • Proven problem solving, trouble shooting and critical thinking skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, knowledge of Labworks LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) desirable.
