Legacy Church

Part-Time Position

20-25 hrs/week

Legacy Church is seeking a detail-oriented and trustworthy Church Bookkeeper to help manage

the financial operations of the church. This position plays an important role in supporting the

mission and ministry of Legacy Church by maintaining accurate financial records, processing

contributions, assisting with payroll, preparing reports, and helping ensure strong financial

stewardship.

The ideal candidate will have experience in church or nonprofit accounting, strong

organizational skills, and the ability to handle sensitive financial information with integrity and

confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • The Church Bookkeeper will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for church

operations, including general ledger entries, accounts payable, accounts receivable, contributions, and other financial documentation.

  • This role includes processing weekly offerings, online donations, member giving records, and

year-end contribution statements. The bookkeeper will also help ensure that all contribution

records are accurate, confidential, and properly maintained.

  • Additional responsibilities include processing payroll information, coordinating with payroll

services such as Paychex, assisting with payroll taxes, ensuring retirement funds are recorded

and submitted accurately, and providing support related to medical insurance benefits.

  • The bookkeeper will review and process invoices, issue checks for approved expenditures,

submit billings, and manage accounts receivable in a timely and organized manner.

  • This position will also assist with annual budget preparation, bank reconciliations, financial

reporting, and the preparation of reports for pastors, ministry leaders, and the church board.

  • The Church Bookkeeper will help ensure compliance with church accounting policies, maintain

organized financial records for review, and assist with audits as needed.

  • In addition to bookkeeping duties, this role may include general administrative support for the

pastor, board, ministry leaders, and staff. This could include tasks such as maintaining employee

files, helping with church events, and supporting improvements to financial systems and

procedures.

Qualifications

  • Qualified candidates should have experience in church or nonprofit accounting and a strong

understanding of basic bookkeeping practices.

  • The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work both

independently and collaboratively with a team.

  • Experience with QuickBooks and payroll systems such as Paychex is preferred.
  • Candidates should have a basic understanding of nonprofit financial reporting, payroll, tax

compliance, and accounting procedures.

  • Because this role involves financial records, payroll information, member giving records, cash,

checks, and electronic contributions, the ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate

integrity is essential.

  • The candidate must also be able to affirm and uphold the staff values of Legacy Church.

Work Environment

This is a part-time position that will often require in-person work at the church office.

Occasional travel to other Legacy Church locations or related ministry sites may be required.

The role involves regular interaction with pastors, staff members, ministry leaders, church

members, and outside vendors.

To Apply

Interested applicants should submit a resume and a brief statement of interest. Legacy Church is looking for someone who is not only skilled in bookkeeping, but also committed to serving the church with excellence, integrity, and care.
