What you'll be doing:
  • Handle shipments and ensure profitability
  • Establish task priorities, scheduling and tracking work assignments
  • Coordinate shipping details with origin agent
  • Track and trace incoming shipments with airlines, steam ship lines and other NVOCC carriers and ensure customers are informed of each milestone
  • Billing on time, zero demurrage mind set, detention, exam fees, etc.
  • Work directly with carriers to coordinate and follow up incoming shipments
  • Negotiate pricing with Ocean/Agent/Ground Carrier/Steamship/Airlines
  • Provide effective and accurate instructions to transportation carriers according to company's shipping guidelines
  • Convert and verify shipment weight and volume
  • Calculate rates and price conversions; profit and loss analysis
  • Maintain communication with customers, carriers and vendors
  • Coordinate pick-ups and invoice files
  • Assist customers with question complaints, requests, tracking and tracing
  • Process, arrange and coordinate cargo bookings with customer and overseas agents
  • Handles accounting processes accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Open files in Cargowise system generating invoice to the brokerage team or outside broker

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or GED (General Education Diploma) equivalency
  • Minimum 1 year experience in the importation of goods or an equivalent combination of both education and experience.
  • Knowledge of Government Agency requirements
  • Knowledge of the movement of freight via air and/or ocean
  • PC literate with experience with Microsoft Outlook, Work, Access and Excel
