Job description

Position Summary

Our client is seeking an experienced Import Coordinator to join a collaborative logistics team. This position will coordinate international import shipments by air and ocean, work closely with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, and internal teams, and ensure shipments move efficiently and all required documentation is accurate and complete.

The ideal candidate has hands-on freight forwarding experience, strong knowledge of air and ocean imports, and experience with ISF filings, bills of lading, shipping documentation, order management, and customs brokers. SAP experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate inbound international shipments by air and ocean freight
  • Work directly with freight forwarders, customs brokers, carriers, and internal departments
  • Manage import documentation, including Bills of Lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and shipping documents
  • Monitor shipments from origin through final delivery and communicate shipment status
  • Coordinate and follow up on ISF (Importer Security Filing) requirements
  • Review shipment documentation for accuracy and completeness
  • Manage purchase orders and shipment information within SAP
  • Track orders, deliveries, and exceptions and resolve issues as they arise
  • Communicate with vendors, brokers, freight forwarders, and internal stakeholders
  • Assist with basic export documentation and processes as needed
  • Maintain accurate shipment and order records
  • Help identify and resolve delays, discrepancies, and documentation issues
  • Provide excellent customer service to internal and external partners
  • Work collaboratively with the team to support overall import/logistics operations

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in import coordination, international logistics, or freight forwarding
  • Strong experience with ocean and air freight
  • Experience working with customs brokers and freight forwarders
  • Working knowledge of ISF requirements
  • Experience with Bills of Lading and import/shipping documentation
  • Order management experience
  • Basic understanding of export processes
  • SAP experience required
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple shipments and priorities simultaneously
