Job description

Job Summary:As an Import Export Associate, you will be responsible for coordinating the transportation of goods both domestically and overseas. Your duties will include:Planning and directing the flow of air and surface traffic to overseas destinationsReceiving and shipping freight, assessing charges, and collecting fees for shipmentsNegotiating with domestic customers on behalf of foreign customers to resolve problems and arrive at mutual agreementsNegotiating reciprocal freight handling agreements with foreign shipping interestsExamining invoices and shipping manifests for compliance with customs regulationsContacting customs officials to effect release of incoming freight and resolve customs delaysPreparing reports of transactions to facilitate billing of shippers and foreign carriersDuties/Responsibilities:Planning and directing the flow of air and surface traffic to overseas destinationsReceiving and shipping freight, assessing charges, and collecting fees for shipmentsNegotiating with domestic customers on behalf of foreign customers to resolve problems and arrive at mutual agreementsNegotiating reciprocal freight handling agreements with foreign shipping interestsExamining invoices and shipping manifests for compliance with customs regulationsContacting customs officials to effect release of incoming freight and resolve customs delaysPreparing reports of transactions to facilitate billing of shippers and foreign carriersEducation and Experience:Associates degree from college or technical school preferred.At least 2-4 years of import / export experience preferred.
