Description
  • Manage daily operations of the Health Information Management (HIM) department
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate HIM staff
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely availability of medical records
  • Oversee medical record coding, indexing, scanning, and release of information (ROI)
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, state and federal regulations, and accreditation standards
  • Develop, implement, and update HIM policies and procedures
  • Monitor and audit documentation and coding practices for quality and compliance, in addition to coding records.
  • Coordinate with clinical, administrative, and IT departments regarding health information systems
  • Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems and support system upgrades or implementations
  • Oversee record retention, storage, and destruction processes
  • Respond to audits, legal requests, subpoenas, and compliance reviews
  • Prepare departmental reports, metrics, and performance indicators
  • Support data quality, privacy, and information security initiatives
