Mesa is seeking a Project Manager to manage a multi-discipline projects for GIG South region working with technical teams located in Knoxville and Chattanooga, Tennessee. The Project Manager implements corporate mission and vision statements on a project level. They independently lead projects (up to $2M) of moderate complexity and risk. They provide project leadership to small groups of highly qualified professional personnel engaged in complex work and they are accountable for maintaining a solid customer relationship and ensuring the successful execution of the project.

Responsibilities
  • Performs all field assignments following all customer, Mesa, and regulatory safety requirements
  • Performs basic functions required to verify, check-out, and startup simple to complex electrical, instrumentation, and control equipment and systems
  • Communication with personnel to update project status and scope, schedule, or budget changes
  • Must understand general construction methods and electrical testing requirements
  • Provides effective leadership by delegating specific responsibilities to immediate subordinates to ensure that Project Execution Plans are appropriately implemented
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering/design work for projects
  • Work with the project team to minimize schedule and budget impacts resulting from changes
  • Track design changes and communicate the impact of the change order to the client for approval
  • Reviews monthly cost reports to ensure all projects operate within the approved budget guidelines
  • Ensures that Mesa’s policies, systems, and procedures for technical work, management, and administration are implemented and reviewed regularly
  • Ensures effective work planning and profit control systems are implemented
  • Provides leadership for a project, including the work scope, work outline, budget, and schedule for completion
  • Monitor and track project expenditures, earned value, cost, and schedule performance to satisfy corporate requirements and ensure satisfactory budget performance on all projects
  • Ability to perform a broad range of supervisory responsibilities over others
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and interface with clients, vendors, engineers, colleagues, and electric utilities personnel
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and solve complex technical and management problems related to engineering projects; facilitate change management
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build relationships and work effectively in a team environment
  • Possess a strong knowledge of power generation types – Coal, Gas, Hydro, and Nuclear
Education and Experience
  • BS or MS Eng or BS/MS in Related Field + 6 years of Project Management experience
  • PE or PMP Desired/ Contract may require PMP
