POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for providing sustainable Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) compliance direction and support to LATICRETE in North America. The EHS Manager will be responsible for developing, planning, and implementing sustainable compliance EHS programs to control risks and ensure the company is in compliance with the appropriate regulatory agencies' requirements and regulations. This individual will work with the appropriate personnel to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and local EHS laws, regulations, codes, and rules. This person will serve as EHS technical resource and subject matter expert for the operations leadership team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned, as necessary.
1. Environmental (20%):
• Lead, manage and/or coordinate all environmental permitting and compliance activities for the North American locations
• Develop and implement environmental standards, guidelines, and best practices • Lead on-site environmental auditing of all US facilities to ensure all environmental programs have the proper training, procedure writing, air/water permitting, and regulatory compliance, provide support and guidance for noted action items.
2. Health and Safety (50%)
• Lead, manage and/or coordinate all health and safety compliance activities for the North American locations.
• Develop and implement health and safety standards, guidelines, and best practices
• Lead on-site safety auditing of all US facilities to ensure all safety programs have the proper training, procedure writing, and regulatory compliance, provide support and guidance for noted action items.
• Perform and/or coordinate safety and health monitoring, data collection, analysis, and reporting for the operations department.
3. Governance (20%):
• Represent LATICRETE as appropriate with government agencies, professional bodies, trade organizations, and the community
• Support business needs and influence business strategies by providing up-to-date information on EHS North American regulations, legislation, and laws and technology developments applicable LATICRETE.
• Support new product development requests to ensure compliance with all applicable EHS regulations and LATICRETE EHS standards.
• Lead, coach and/or participate in RCI's (Root Cause Investigation) for EHS events and missed compliance tasks. Lead the implementation of timely correction plans.
• Identify, develop, conduct, lead, coordinate and or monitor the training of the appropriate personnel to ensure sustainable EHS compliance.
• Champion and participate in the evaluation of project proposals, growth opportunities, continuous improvement, production, and process changes for EHS compliance.
• Identify and manage vendors who can provide EHS services in an efficient manner compliant with regulations and limits corporate liability.
• Provide EHS direction, facilitation, and support to ensure locations are developing, implementing, and sustaining EHS plans, processes, training, programs, and standards.
• Identifies EHS compliance gaps and drives solution implementation.
• Promote an EHS Culture of compliance and commitment through leadership and teamwork.
• Participate in developing and implementing sustainable EHS Strategy. Participate in EHS goal setting, applying a continuous improvement philosophy to all EHS programs and metrics across the appropriate cross functional teams.
• Serve as liaison with corporate teams to ensure standardization of EHS compliance initiatives.
4. People Management (10%):
• Lead and manage the EHS Specialist to ensure EHS compliance for business units and/or LATICRETE.
• Prioritize and allocate work: Delegate and allocate manageable goals to employees to support company priorities and drive results. Clearly define to team-members project responsibilities and performance expectations for long- and short-term work plans. Set clear priorities for team and individuals, including appropriate allocation of resources (time, money, and people).
• Assess and Reward Performance: Provide team with timely, fair, and measured performance assessments and feedback to foster growth. Provide reward and recognition for performance as appropriate. Address performance concerns and hold team accountable.
• Build Team Culture: Consistently hold employees accountable for upholding the organizations values. Proactively manage unhealthy conflict among employees and take steps to prevent escalation. Foster an open environment where employees feel able to provide constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement.
• Communicate and Motivate: Communicate regular business updates. Convey information in a clear and timely manner. Listen carefully to the views and opinions of peers and colleagues
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 - 10 years applicable experience in EHS Management in a chemical process industry.
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, Safety Sciences, Environmental, EHS, Chemistry or equivalent degree in other related fields.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) preferred
  • Experienced ability in implementing employee driven or employee behavior safety training programs
  • Detailed knowledge of training programs, EHS compliance agencies on the US federal and state level.

Able to management multiple assignments and projects simultaneously with shifting priorities, deadlines, and focus.
• Ability to interact well with upper management and influence decisions.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot problems and identify and implement solutions

• Effective team leadership and team building skills with experience in leading cross functional teams

Travel Requirement:
• Up to 75% primarily domestic with some potential project based international travel
