What is an implementation manager contract?

Implementation Manager Contracts refer to roles where a professional is hired—often on a temporary or project basis—to oversee and execute the rollout of new systems, processes, or solutions within an organization. These contracts typically involve managing timelines, coordinating between different teams, ensuring resources are allocated properly, and tracking project milestones to ensure successful implementation. Implementation Managers work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements, troubleshoot issues, and ensure that the transition to new products or processes aligns with business goals. Their expertise is essential for minimizing disruption and maximizing the benefits of new initiatives.

What are some common challenges faced by implementation managers working on a contract basis, and how can they be addressed?

Implementation Managers on contract often encounter challenges such as quickly acclimating to new organizational cultures, building trust with stakeholders in a limited timeframe, and managing project scope changes without longstanding internal relationships. To address these, it's important to proactively communicate, set clear expectations with clients, and leverage structured onboarding processes. Building rapport early and demonstrating reliability can help overcome transitional hurdles and ensure successful project delivery.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an implementation manager contract, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Implementation Manager (Contract), you need a strong background in project management, process improvement, and relevant industry knowledge, often supported by a bachelor’s degree and experience managing client-facing projects. Familiarity with project management software (like Asana, Jira, or MS Project), CRM systems, and sometimes PMP or similar certifications is typically required. Outstanding communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills help you excel in coordinating teams and meeting client expectations. These competencies are crucial for successfully delivering projects on time and within scope, ensuring client satisfaction and business growth.

Job description

Implementation Manager — Enterprise Software Role Overview

This is a high-impact role at the intersection of technology, client success, and organizational transformation. As an Implementation Manager, you will own the end-to-end delivery of our software platform to new clients — serving as the single point of accountability from project kickoff through go-live. You will work across a dynamic internal organization and with some of the most mission‑critical institutions in the country. The right candidate is a natural orchestrator — someone who brings clarity to complexity, builds trusted relationships across technical and non‑technical stakeholders, and drives outcomes even in environments where the path forward requires creativity and persistence.

Responsibilities & Duties
  • End-to-end delivery leadership

Own the full implementation lifecycle from contract handoff through go-live and post‑launch stabilization. Build and maintain the master project schedule, sequence workstreams, and manage the critical path. Deliver clear, executive‑level status reporting to internal leadership and client stakeholders throughout each engagement.

  • Cross‑functional team coordination

Partner closely with client, engineering, product, and DevOps teams to align internal delivery with client commitments. Build strong working relationships across disciplines, creating the transparency and shared accountability that keeps complex, multi‑workstream projects on track.

  • Client partnership and change enablement

Through close relationship with clients guide them — courts, agencies, and law firms — through the organizational and operational changes required for a successful go‑live. Build trust with client leadership, manage expectations proactively, and help client teams develop the readiness and confidence to adopt the platform effectively.

  • Infrastructure, configuration & technical coordination

Coordinate infrastructure provisioning for Azure‑hosted environments across dev, staging, and production. Manage client‑facing infrastructure readiness, oversee third‑party integrations, lead data migration coordination, manage UAT cycles, and drive go‑live cutover planning with rollback procedures and hypercare support. Risk management and proactive escalation Maintain a live risk register and issue log throughout each engagement. Surface risks early — with a recommended mitigation path — and drive resolution across internal teams and client contacts before issues affect the project timeline or client relationship. Delivery practice development Contribute to building a scalable, repeatable implementation practice. As you run engagements, capture learnings, refine templates, and help shape the delivery methodologies that will support the company’s next phase of growth.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
  • Experience implementing software within government agencies, court systems, or the legal sector
  • Background collaborating with software development teams across the full delivery lifecycle
  • PMP, PgMP, or equivalent project management certification
  • Experience managing multi‑site or multi‑jurisdiction rollouts
  • Familiarity with Azure‑hosted environments and enterprise identity/SSO configurations
Job Requirements
  • 5+ years of project or implementation management experience, with at least 3 years managing enterprise software deployments end-to-end
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi‑workstream projects spanning infrastructure, configuration, data migration, integrations, and end‑user trainingStrong technical fluency — able to engage credibly with cloud engineers, developers, and integration teams without being one yourself
  • Proven ability to build influence and drive accountability across cross‑functional teams in a collaborative, relationship‑driven way
  • Experience guiding clients through organizational change and building client‑side readiness for successful platform adoption
  • Comfort operating in fast‑moving environments where you help shape process as much as follow it
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive‑level status reporting
  • Proficiency with project scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or equivalent
Perks and Benefits

Our competitive benefits package includes premium medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and their dependents.

FSX employee perks include 401k, life and disability insurance,, and work hour flexibility.

Work-life balance

A healthy work‑life balance is vital. Our flexible PTO plan encourages team members to take time off so they can return feeling refreshed.
