What you will be doing:

  • Assist in coordinating and implementing quality control objectives and activities to resolve production problems, maximize product reliability, and minimize cost
  • Respond to line calls with immediate corrective action
  • Assist in developing long-range corrective measures through root-cause analysis
  • Provide accurate and timely data to management regarding quality concerns
  • Procure gauges and measuring equipment for quality control initiatives
  • Perform machine and gauge capability studies
  • Keep management abreast of progress, developments & pending problems
  • Implement and ensure good health and safety practices are followed
  • Assist in developing and implementing quality audits of production and operations
  • Coordinate problem solving efforts with respective personnel
  • Design and implement state process control programs for inspection purposes
  • Implement good housekeeping practices
  • Keep abreast of specifications, changing regulations and industry standards
  • Write and distribute quality data and reports

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Quality Engineering; or 4 years of experience in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial or Quality Engineering.
  • Ability to work flexible hours or shifts.
  • This position has a compressed work schedule that requires four (4) ten (10) hour days during a Monday through Thursday work week, and the position is eligible for overtime as business requires with causal overtime expected.
  • "Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S without sponsorship. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time."

Preferred Requirements:

  • Good knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the production of internal combustion engines.
  • Good knowledge of the dynamic performance requirements, test setup and monitoring, and problem resolution of internal combustion engines
  • Good knowledge of quality control, raw materials, manufacturing processes, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of engines
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interface effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Basic knowledge of statistical process control
  • Basic knowledge of geometric tolerancing and related gauges
  • Self-starter possessing strong initiative and teamwork
  • Proficient with PC and MS Office Suite
  • Familiar with plant operations and equipment
  • Knowledge of MTU components and products
  • Knowledge of internal combustion engine performance requirements
  • Knowledge of gauge and test equipment

Work Conditions:

While performing tasks for this position, the employee is regularly requested to perform work on a computer inside and outside of the work environment. Also, the employee will be occasionally requested to come in contact with wet environmental conditions.

Finally, the employee will frequently hear noise while performing task in the work environment.

While performing physical demands of the position, regularly the employee will be requested to stand, sit, walk, climb and stoop. However, the employee will frequently be requested to balance, kneel, crouch, reach, and squat. Finally, an employee will be frequently requested to grasp and manipulate items in a maneuverable manner to perform daily tasks.

Employees will be occasionally required to push, pull, carry, lift and or move materials within the work environment. The materials will weigh between 10-50 pounds, and the employee will be occasionally requested to move materials during the course of a week.

Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, ability to adjust focus and employee must have the ability to see in color. The employee must also be able to inspect MTU America engine products under a fluorescent black light.
