Job description

Job Summary
This position is responsible for analyzing and translating business and volunteer training needs into innovative, engaging, and effective solutions that enhance the IEEE volunteer training experience. The role drives the design and development of learning programs, tools, and processes by leveraging emerging technologies, modern methodologies, and user-centered design.
The incumbent leads initiatives that improve the end-to-end volunteer training experience, develops scalable training solutions, and supports organizational goals within a dynamic, global environment. This role collaborates with staff and volunteers at all levels to deliver impactful programs and continuously advance the volunteer experience.
The role typically reports to Operations Manager, Geographic Activities, and has no direct reports. This position works collaboratively with internal and external teams.
Key Responsibilities
  • Specific duties include but are not limited to:
  • Designs and develops creative solutions for volunteer training
  • Identifies opportunities to implement automation tools for simplifying training processes and reducing required volunteer and staff efforts
  • Conceptualizes and designs layout and basic HTML configuration of wireframes and prototypes for web, application and LMS interfaces
  • Advocates for the end user, serving as the interface between volunteer trainees and internal IEEE teams, and ensuring the user voice is heard
  • Develops and sources high-quality content and assets to support the volunteer experience, such as user guides and best practice guidelines
  • Proactively fixes problems and improves related processes
  • Works on strategic and operational projects to advance the volunteer training experience for the GEO units, and to ensure key goals, objectives and deliverables are met as identified within the yearly goals and set forth by MGA leadership within the strategic roadmap. Special projects may also be assigned based on specific GEO unit needs.
  • Supports the MGA Training Committee operations and meetings and ensures key deliverables and strategic objectives are identified and met.
  • Develops and maintains the overarching training framework to support the MGA strategic roadmap, ensures the appropriate content is identified to implement this strategy in support of both members and volunteers. Ensures the committee delivers training solutions in the following areas: essential, orientation, leadership, role specific, governance, and professional development.
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the IEEE Center for Leadership Excellence and the IEEE VoLT program, resolving user issues, and overseeing design changes and platform upgrades
  • Generates metrics and KPIs, as well as ad hoc reports for volunteers and staff when requested
  • Plays an active role in developing new concepts and approaches
  • Willingness to work outside of regular business hours as required by the needs of the business
  • Contributes to the department and its activities as requested
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Skills and Requirements
  • Experience in program management, product/user experience design and management, process improvement, or other relevant experience
  • Experience with HTML/CSS(/JavaScript)
  • Experience with content management systems,
  • Experience with learning management systems, Moodle and Totara preferred
  • Experience with e-learning authoring tools
  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat [helpful, and necessary if we want to have someone on the team with intermediate creative skills
  • Candidate should be comfortable and experienced in use of the Microsoft Office products. The candidate should be proficient with Excel to perform intermediate data analysis for the CLE and VoLT Program
  • Experience with Cisco Webex and Google Meet
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
