Job description

Description This position is open until filled with applications received by 6/12/26 guaranteed consideration. The City of Springfield is committed to innovation, sustainability, and improving the quality of life for our residents. As a result, our GIS team is growing.

Currently, we are seeking a skilled and motivated GIS Specialist to join our team. This role will play a key part in supporting our municipal planning and decision-making processes through geographic information systems (GIS) technology. Job Summary: As a GIS Specialist, you will be responsible for managing and analyzing geospatial data to support various municipal departments.

You will work closely with planning, public works, environmental, and emergency services teams to develop, maintain, and analyze GIS databases, maps, and applications that support the municipality's goals. Need more information about our benefits and perks. Click here.

Qualifications and Requirements Experience, Education, and Training Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Geospatial Science, Planning, Geography, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field; OR Associate's Degree with significant course work in the above fields plus two years of responsible experience utilizing GIS software. AND Proficiency with ESRI Software Suite specifically ArcMap/ArcGIS Pro. Licensing/Certification Must possess valid driver's license.
