Job description

Description Our Human Resources team is expanding with a new position at the City of Springfield. We are excited to announce that we are adding an HR Associate to support our benefits team. The HR Associate is a role where you get to make a real difference in employees' lives.

Every day you'll help people understand and access benefits that impact their health, financial security, and overall well-being. It's an excellent opportunity to develop specialized HR expertise, build strong relationships throughout the organization, and establish a foundation for long-term career growth in Human Resources. What you'll do: Assist employees throughout the retirement process by providing guidance on available benefits, helping with required documentation, and ensuring a smooth and supportive transition from active employment to retirement.

Process benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations resulting from new hires, qualifying life events, and separations. Maintain accurate employee benefit records and ensure data is entered correctly into HR and payroll systems. Support annual open enrollment by preparing communications, educating employees, and processing elections.

Present benefit program information to employee groups. What you'll need: An understanding of the administration of an employee benefits program. Strong communication and organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.

Interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships across all levels of the City. Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality. What you'll love: Teamwork: our HR team is collaborative, supportive and diverse.

Up to two years of related experience or an active PHR or SHRM-CP certification may be substituted for some of the formal education requirement on a year-for-year basis.
