POSITION GOAL
To perform clerical and administrative tasks in support of the efficient and effective operations of the office.
ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
The Temporary Clerical Support shall carry out the essential performance responsibilities listed below:
• Perform a variety of clerical duties to support supervisory and administrative personnel in handling daily activities.
• Answers the telephone, responds to inquiries and provides information based on general knowledge of departmental programs or activities.
• Open and distribute mail; assemble material for use or review by supervisor.
• Maintain complete filing systems and records as required.
• Code, classify, post and consolidate information for reports; check for required forms and number of copies.
• Maintain information in computer databases, as needed.
• Prepare routine reports on information processed by the office.
• Maintain files related to the work assignment.
• Receive visitors and provide information or make referrals to other staff members, when appropriate.
• Interact effectively with the general public, staff members, students, teachers, parents, and administrators, using tact and good judgment.
• Operate standard office equipment, as required by the job.
• Perform and promote all activities in compliance with the equal employment and non-discrimination policies of The School Board of Broward County, Florida.
• Participate in training programs offered to increase enhance the individual skills and proficiency related to the job responsibilities.
• Review current developments, literature and technical sources of information related to job responsibilities.
• Ensure adherence to safety rules and procedures.
• Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor, or designee.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Standard high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved General Educational Development (GED) Testing Program.
• A minimum of one (1) year, within the last five (5) years, of clerical work experience.
• Knowledge of clerical practices and procedures including filing, answering telephones, or utilizing standard office equipment.
• Proficient in the operation of office machinery and equipment, including personal computers, fax machines, printers, scanners, etc.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Advanced organization skills and keen attentiveness to detail.
• Computer skills as required for the position.
