Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Greets visitors, answers and screens incoming telephone calls by providing information or take messages and distributes them to appropriate employee.
  • Follows organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Uses specialized techniques in the transport of sick or convalescent persons.
  • Supports cost efficient/effective delivery of care.
  • Participates in unit based and hospital-wide Continuous Quality Improvement Program.
  • Gives and / or receives information regarding patient schedule and information.
  • Prepares rooms to receive patient; sets up necessary equipment and ensures neatness and cleanliness of room.
  • Assists with preparing patients for procedures.
  • Obtains necessary forms and information for exams.
  • Transports patients, records, specimens and equipment to designated areas throughout organization.
  • Assists ambulatory and wheelchair patients to and from diagnostic imaging equipment.
  • Escorts or directs patients to rooms or departments within the facility.
  • Assists sick or convalescent patients with mobility to prevent accidents and ensure comfort.
  • Promptly and courteously responds to patientAs questions.
  • Relays appropriate information to the appropriate staff for immediate attention.
  • Reinforces patient and family teaching.
  • Pulls and logs patient exams on film folders and ensures that records are properly identified; documents and routes to the appropriate department or personnel.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all records.
  • May perform data entry of patient information into organization databases.
  • Observes policies and procedures pertaining to the safe operation of vehicles and equipment.
  • Exercises special care to ensure the safety and comfort of patients in transit.
  • Responds immediately to emergency patient situations; takes actions prescribed by policy and procedure or obtains appropriate personnel.
  • May participates in the orientation of other radiology technology aides.
  • Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a hospital setting preferred.
  • People skills required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock, Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation, Shift work, Travel may be required. Use of personal protective equipment, including respirators, environmental conditions may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks.
