Work Environment

Our work setting is entirely remote, allowing our counselors to connect with clients through telehealth platforms that enable secure and effective sessions. Counselors work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists and psychologists, ensuring coherent patient care even in a virtual setting. The schedule is primarily Monday to Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some flexibility required in response to patient needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough mental health assessments to identify patient needs and establish individualized treatment plans. For instance, you may perform initial evaluations to gauge the severity of symptoms and recommend appropriate interventions.
• Utilize various evidence-based therapeutic modalities, including cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and solution-focused therapy, to deliver tailored therapeutic interventions to individuals, couples, and family units.
• Facilitate engaging psychoeducational groups that address prevalent mental health issues, fostering a supportive community atmosphere where clients can share experiences and learn coping strategies.
• Engage in crisis intervention services as necessary, providing immediate support and guidance to clients experiencing mental health emergencies.
• Maintain meticulous and confidential patient records in our electronic health record (EHR) system, adhering to all legal and ethical guidelines to protect patient privacy.
• Collaborate with colleagues during case consultations and team meetings, actively contributing insights on best practices and sharing knowledge to enhance client care.
• Stay abreast of the latest research and trends in mental health treatment, pursuing continuing education opportunities to refine skills and enrich patient outcomes.

Patient Population / Client Focus

The mental health counselor will work with a diverse range of clients, including adolescents, adults, and families facing various mental health challenges. Our client demographic is representative of the broader Wampsville community, and you'll have the chance to address how cultural, social, and economic factors influence mental health outcomes. Your role will include providing a safe, nonjudgmental space for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings.

Qualifications

• A Master’s or Doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
• A current and valid license as an LCSW, LPC, or LMFT within the state of New York.
• A solid understanding of mental health disorders and familiarity with evidence-based therapeutic approaches.
• Proven aptitude for conducting comprehensive mental health assessments and crafting effective treatment strategies.
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, enabling meaningful connections with clients.
• Demonstrated sound judgment in ethical practice and adherence to professional boundaries.
• Competency in utilizing electronic health record systems and relevant computer applications efficiently.
• A collaborative spirit, capable of integrating into a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care.

Preferred Experience

• Experience providing individual and group therapy for a variety of mental health issues, particularly in a telehealth framework.
• Familiarity with evidence-based psychosocial interventions targeting anxiety, depression, and substance use disorders.
• Experience facilitating support groups and psychoeducational programs is a plus.

Compensation and Benefits
