Marbles Kids Museum is a vibrant, nonprofit children’s museum and IMAX Theater located in the heart of downtown Raleigh. Marbles has been sparking imagination, discovery, and learning through play since opening its doors in 2007. Marbles’ serves a diverse population of families, school groups, and community organizations through award-winning play-based exhibits, summer camps, IMAX documentaries, feature movies, and special events year-round. Today Marbles ranks among the top family destinations in North Carolina providing learning experiences for children with creative programs, and larger-than-life movies. 

The Opportunity 
Join the team behind the scenes of the big screen! Marbles is searching for an IMAX Projectionist who will be responsible for fulfilling the theater’s daily projection operations and assisting with the successful daily operations of the IMAX theater. This position also supports Marbles campus operations by assisting with the setup and teardown of audio/visual equipment and program furniture as needed.
Job Responsibilities   

  • Operate and monitor the Marbles IMAX Digital Projection System and complete a written operational report at the end of each shift.
  • Maintain projection booth cleanliness by keeping work surfaces tidied and vacuuming booth carpet using the central vac system.
  • Aid the Retail Operations Team with concessions sales, ticket scanning, concessions, and glasses inventory management, and any other support required to ensure a positive theater guest experience.
  • Perform troubleshooting on the IMAX system as needed and communicate findings with the supervisor.
  • Support staff, facility rental clients, and guests with event setup (AV & program furniture) and breakdown related needs as directed by a lead.
Ideal Experience and Skills
  • Associate's degree or technical certification in computer science or media production preferred.
  • 1 year of experience operating a digital projection system theater or equivalent technical experience with audio/visual production systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for computer, AV, and other technical systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Physical Demands
  • Walking, standing, stooping, bending, and reaching.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Moving technical equipment both by hand and by pushing/pulling carts.
  • Lifting and manipulating tables and chairs.
  • Occasionally using a ladder, and going up and down stairs.

Schedule
  • Weekend availability is required.
  • Schedule flexibility is required including weekdays, late nights, and holidays.
 
Work Environment
  • Occasional exposure to a noisy and crowded atmosphere.
  • May need to walk between two buildings with some outdoor exposure.
  • Flexible schedule required, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
