What is an Imaging RN?

An Imaging RN, or Imaging Registered Nurse, is a specialized nurse who works in medical imaging departments such as radiology, MRI, CT, ultrasound, or nuclear medicine. They assist with patient care before, during, and after imaging procedures, ensuring safety and comfort. Imaging RNs are responsible for assessing patients, administering medications or contrast agents, monitoring vital signs, and providing education about procedures. They play a key role in coordinating care between radiologists, technologists, and other healthcare professionals. Their expertise helps ensure imaging exams are performed safely and efficiently.

How does an Imaging RN typically interact with radiologists and technologists during imaging procedures?

Imaging RNs play a key role in coordinating patient care during imaging procedures by collaborating closely with radiologists and technologists. They are responsible for patient assessment, monitoring vital signs, administering medications or contrast agents, and ensuring patient safety throughout the procedure.
