Position Summary
Under the general direction of the VP of Operations, this position will perform a variety of operational and accounting functions. There must be a coordinated and consistent approach to risk management operations. The ideal candidate will possess a solid understanding of deposit operations and potential legalities.
This role serves as a point of contact for escalated inquiries. Responsibilities are moderate to complex and carry a regulatory, monetary, or potential reputational risk impact if not handled in a timely manner. The specialist interacts with both customers and staff on areas of concern.
Key Responsibilities
- Core Deposit Operations: Handle file maintenance, new CD and CD renewal amendment processing, dormant account monitoring and resolution, return mail research, and digital payment troubleshooting.
- Legal & Compliance Functions: Process legal requests such as subpoenas, levies, and inquiries. Prepare unclaimed property reports and handle document imaging and hard-copy filing.
- Fraud & Risk Management: Manage fraud processing, monitor POS disputes, and update customer debit card profiles due to travel requests or fraud alert cases.
- Transaction Processing: Process wire transfers, including creation or verification under dual control. Perform exception item processing (EIM) and mobile deposit processing.
- Reconciliation & Approvals: Reconcile ATMs and teller activities for multiple branch locations, and handle decision-making on large dollar-hold items.
- Inbound Monitoring: Monitor general contact and electronic message logs, referring inquiries to the appropriate departments.
- Growth Path: Learn and adopt cash management tasks as this position evolves.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to all internal policies and procedures, as well as applicable state and federal banking regulations, including but not limited to: ACH Rules, BSA and OFAC requirements, Regulation DD, Regulation E, Red Flag, and Regulation CC.
Education and Special Requirements
- Education: Professional knowledge generally acquired through an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program.
- Experience:
- 3-5 years of extensive experience in a bank operations environment.
- 1-3 years in a customer service role.
- Demonstrated experience working with fraud cases.
- Certifications & Compliance Knowledge:
- Strong working knowledge of check education, compliance, and exchange rules.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with major core banking systems (e.g., Fiserv) is highly beneficial.
