To thrive as a Pilot at Imagine Air, you need a commercial pilot’s license, strong aeronautical knowledge, and flight experience, typically supported by FAA certification. Familiarity with flight management systems, navigation tools, and aircraft-specific avionics is essential. Excellent situational awareness, communication, and decision-making skills set top pilots apart in this role. These competencies ensure safe, efficient flights and a positive experience for passengers and crew.

What is Imagine Air?

Imagine Air was a regional airline based in the United States that provided on-demand, private air taxi services using a fleet of small aircraft. The company aimed to make private air travel more accessible and convenient for individuals and small groups, often serving routes and airports not covered by major airlines. Imagine Air operated primarily in the Southeastern U.S. before ceasing operations in 2018 due to financial difficulties. Their services were similar to ride-sharing, allowing customers to book flights as needed rather than adhering to a set schedule.

What are the main challenges pilots at Imagine Air might face when operating on-demand charter flights?

Pilots at Imagine Air often encounter the challenge of adapting to rapidly changing schedules and diverse flight routes, as on-demand charter operations can require quick turnarounds and flexibility. Weather variability and flying into less-familiar airports also require strong situational awareness and decision-making skills. Additionally, working within a small team means pilots often take on additional responsibilities, such as customer service and operational coordination, which can be both rewarding and demanding.

Job description

Turn complexity into clarity

Imagine stepping onto a project where a new air handler is waiting to come alive. You map I/O points, validate network traffic, fine-tune a sequence, and watch efficiency climb. That’s the craft at Pheonix Controls. Serving New England as part of the MIH Systems Group family, we deliver turnkey HVAC solutions—partnering with mechanical contractors, GCs, building owners, facilities managers, and engineers—to create custom, high-quality systems. Our drive for excellence and customer satisfaction fuels our continued growth.

Mission

Lead field execution of DDC-based building automation for commercial and industrial environments—integrating, commissioning, maintaining, and optimizing controls that make buildings work better.

Core responsibilities
  • Install, program, and commission DDC controllers, sensors, actuators, and networked devices for HVAC systems.
  • Perform end-to-end testing, functional verification, and advanced troubleshooting to ensure top-tier performance.
  • Develop and implement control strategies and sequences with engineering and project management stakeholders.
  • Supervise technicians on installations, repairs, and system upgrades; uphold safety and quality.
  • Coach junior technicians with structured training and day-to-day technical guidance.
  • Execute preventive maintenance to maintain reliability and energy efficiency.
  • Resolve complex issues involving DDC controls and HVAC equipment integrations.
  • Record system configurations, code revisions, and updates with meticulous documentation.
  • Track advances in HVAC controls technology and apply best practices in the field.
Qualifications
  • At least 5 years in HVAC controls with a DDC emphasis.
  • Comprehensive understanding of HVAC systems, control hardware, and peripherals.
  • Proficiency programming/configuring Niagara 4/AX, Johnson, Distech, Honeywell (and comparable platforms).
  • Experience integrating DDC with BMS and adjacent automation ecosystems.
  • Working knowledge of BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks protocols.
  • Ability to interpret control schematics, wiring diagrams, and project specifications.
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and systematic problem-solving abilities.
  • Leadership background supervising and mentoring technicians.
  • Strong organizational habits and time management.
  • Professional communication skills with clients, internal teams, and subcontractors.
  • Relevant HVAC controls or DDC programming certifications preferred.
What success looks like

Reliable, efficient systems. Clear documentation. A capable team you’ve lifted. And projects delivered with the quality standard that defines Pheonix Controls.
