Job description

Overview
The Department of Neuroscience is a basic science department that focuses on cutting-edge research in the areas of synapse development and function, sensory systems, and complex behavior, cognitive neuroscience, and behavioral neurobiology. The Bygrave lab is supported by funding from the federal government, charitable foundations as well as university funds. The faculty within the department is also extensively involved with the Graduate School of Biomedical Science Program in Neuroscience as well as teaching within the medical school.
What You'll Do
Under close supervision of Principal Investigator, the candidate in this role would join a supportive team to conduct a variety of experiments to evaluate mechanisms of neuronal circuit function and behaviors relevant to psychiatric disease. There are four primary duties for this position: 1) support the running of the lab through ordering reagents and supplies, 2) use of viral vectors and immunohistochemistry to evaluate expression profiles, 3) behavioral testing in mice, and 4) use of image analysis pipelines for data analysis. Having prior experiences in any of the following is a plus (but not a prerequisite) for the position: biochemistry, molecular biology, experience working with mice, coding proficiency to build/utilize analysis pipelines. This could be a good opportunity for someone looking to gain research experience ahead of applying to graduate school. What We're Looking For
Basic Requirements:
Knowledge and experience typically acquired by:
  • Bachelor's degree in science

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and procedures (especially using mouse models, immunohistochemistry, confocal imaging, stereotaxic surgery)Experience with computational analyses

Pay Range
Minimum $20.50, Midpoint $24.40, Maximum $28.30
Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
