Job description

The Lab Technician position functions as essential support for the analytical needs of Heritage-Crystal Clean by assuming responsibility for all aspects of laboratory analysis, documentation, review, and reporting, along with all applicable QC testing and documentation.
The Lab Technician position relies on instruction and pre-established procedures and works under immediate supervision. The Lab Technician position is staffed 24/7/365 and works 12hr rotating shifts.
Essential Duties:
  • Lab Analysis
  • Performing required test parameters on all sample types
  • Any additional testing as required
  • Accurate written and electronic documentation and reporting
  • Communication with multiple departments via written and electronic methods
  • Utilize safe work practices and adhere to all facility safety policies
  • Understand and execute emergency response duty of opening 10th St. gate
  • General housekeeping
  • Maintain clean, organized lab, free from hazards
  • Assist with proper sample and waste disposal
  • Other duties as assigned by Lab Manager, Lab Supervisors, or Senior Lab Technicians

Education, Certificates, Licenses, or Designations
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 year college degree or certificate in laboratory science or related field required
  • 3+ years lab experience in lieu of education considered

  • Basic knowledge of lab methods and vocabulary
  • Basic knowledge of lab equipment
  • Basic knowledge of Outlook, Excel and Word

Work Environment: Individual will be required to utilize the listed personal protective equipment. While performing the essential duties of this position an individual regularly works indoors, and may be required to stand, walk or sit for long periods. Individuals will be required to regularly talk and hear and often reach with hands or arms above shoulder level, frequently bend, squat, or twist, and may occasionally be required to climb, and lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required to perform essential functions include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Individuals will be required to use a computer keyboard, mouse, telephone, and other office equipment. The noise level of the environment is variable, but generally not quiet. Reasonable accommodation may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential duties.
